it'll be interesting to hear. I doubt he was going to get a whole lot of snaps this year barring injuries. Bryant is going to be the 3rd edge guy and play quite a bit. Holmes would have probably been 4th but he's out for at least a few weeks. I doubt Jenkins was ahead of Badie.
Maybe the freshmen were repping in front of him too or he just wasn't a fit 🤷‍♂️

That almost has to be it unless he did something against team rules that put him in the doghouse. But yeah, seems likely he must've been much lower on the depth chart than anyone thought. But to leave the team a day before the season? Just doesn't make much sense. Unless it saves him from having to sit another year next year from transferring again?

it’s a tough game to play even when you are in the rotation and getting shown some love

my folks lived in Roseland from 1957-1969
I was born there in 1961
my dad would tell the story of a teenage - young 2/0’s Butkus pushing a car loaded up with his friends up & down neighborhood streets in the early 1960’s

My parents also grew up there. My dad tells stories of Butkus and his crew swimming “at the pump” whatever that means 😂

My mom grew up in Roseland. Her brother, 10 years older than her, went to CVS (before they moved there) and was 2 years behind Butkus. I’ve heard from several different family members that his coach told him was better than Butkus, but the family was poor, so he stopped playing football to work at a local pharmacy.

CVS story :
my dad didn’t play football
he was a Dutch Christian Reformed kid who grew up in Englewood . they lived in northern Indiana for a couple years when he was 14-15, and went to a country bumpkin high school there Freshmen year
Soph year they moved back to Englewood and went to the local high school (Parker ? or Englewood?) . wanted to learn a trade so got into CVS his Jr year . He did something in class early his Jr year and the teacher laid into him , swearing his head off at my dad . Really intimidating and embarrassing him in front of the class . My dad got his things , walked out and never went back . this was 1947 or 1948.

CVS was / is a huge 3-4 story building there that you can see right off the skyway . to me , it looks like a prison . not a place to be if you weren’t welcomed .

So… I need odds here for planning purposes. My daughter has a homecoming dance the same day as the Florida Atlantic game. Her dance is at 7pm in Chicago suburbs.. When do they announce this time and what is your best guess for kickoff? And can I make it back
