I'd give it an A if we land Franklin. Landing James on top of that would just make it even better.

Not trying to sound too hyperbolic...Franklin honestly can be the difference in us being a 5 win team vs a 8 win team. He will be, barring injuries, one of if not the best WR in the Big 10.

About a week ago it was a lock. What are the chances now...?

50/50? More than that? Less than that?

Just feel like we have to get him if we want any chance of really having a shot to be a real good team.

So Week 1 game is on Thursday night and Week 4 game is on Friday night? Yuck, I hate this TV influence.

I am still so salty about moving the home opener on our 100th anniversary of Memorial Stadium to a Thursday.

Yeah, I would say I am cool with one away Friday game per year ... the home ones just simply sink our already fragile attendance, and they suck.

EDIT: It would be interesting to look at which Big Ten schools rely the most on out-of-town fans for their football attendance and which ones rely on local fans primarily. Penn State seems like an obvious one that is heavily dependent on out-of-town fans, while Minnesota seems like the opposite end of the spectrum. We'd probably be close to PSU?
Going off of this, this is what I deemed to be the "local population" for each Big Ten school. For most of the classic state schools, I used the total MSA. The only exceptions are below:

(A) I used Middlesex County, NJ for Rutgers given how massive the New York MSA is.
(B) I used Prince George's County, MD for Maryland for a similar reason.
(C) I used the city of Evanston for NU given its extremely selective fan base and unique nature among Big Ten schools as a small private school. Also, I know from living here that Evanston is probably the only place in the Chicago MSA where non-alum fans might default to Northwestern.

Minnesota: 3,712,020
Ohio State: 2,180,271
Maryland: 967,201
Rutgers: 863,623
Michigan State: 473,177
Michigan: 365,536
Nebraska: 344,387
Illinois: 235,608
Purdue: 226,564
Iowa: 180,088
Indiana: 160,874
Penn State: 157,795
Northwestern: 78,110

FWIW, we would have about 515,000 additional people in instate counties immediately adjacent to the Champaign-Urbana MSA, bringing our total to about 750,000 potential fans to draw from that could feasibly zip over to a game and drive home that day (if they don't enjoy as many tailgate beers as I like to! Lol...).

Either way, it seems certain that our better attendance numbers rely on quite a lot of people from Springfield, Peoria, Chicagoland, the rest of Central Illinois and (to a lesser extent) the Quad Cities, Metro East and Rockford areas. I stand by my assertion that a Friday night game probably hurts our attendance significantly more than the conference average (our historic futility being included as a reason here).

Where does Wisconsin fit in this list?

How brave of them to give everyone some form of B or C and then giving the B's to most of the NIL heavy schools.

Have they figured out how clicks are baited or not???

So mild.

Well Illinois scheduled EIU. That's not who you schedule if you want a better slot.

On a side note: Alabama softball offered to come play at Illinois this year. Illinois declined. It would have at least been nice for attendance.

So Week 1 game is on Thursday night and Week 4 game is on Friday night? Yuck, I hate this TV influence.

Week 1 is Labor Day weekend and plenty of schools both inside and outside the P5 have games on Thursday or Friday night that weekend. If you have a game on Thursday night, it at least gives a better chance (one would think anyway) for students to attend before traveling out of town before the long weekend.

Fox having a Friday night game isn't all that surprising. The network is in need of programming on Friday nights, especially this coming fall. With Smackdown moving to USA Network (first episode on USA set to air September 13), Fox was going to have an open timeslot that they needed to fill.

Every year I’m lucky enough to go to the Texas Association of Basketball Coaches coaches clinic where they bring in college coaches to teach us about basketball.

The one thing I’ve noticed from watching all the college basketball coaches at this clinic over the years, from Huggins, to Bruce, to Shaka, to Will Wade, to Brad etc, is the charisma and energy they have. It’s a very different thing to see in person. Jerome Tang at Kansas State might have more than any of those guys I mentioned. It’s magnetic. It draws you in.

Coach Parker has that. You can see it from him. There’s a reason these dudes are at the level they’re at. They’re different. He stands out there even amongst other guys like him. Can’t wait to see what he does for us. Welcome coach.

Yes, Wow! . . .

I didn't make it halfway through Corey Parker's press conference video before I wanted to suit-up, run out on the field, and intercept a pass for my new coach.

Nebraska's AD on the move to Friday night.

The other thing is we can be upset about it all we want, but we’re cashing a pretty large check from our television contract every year. This is the price of that check. In order to fund what we want to do, you end up with a Friday night game here and there.

Honestly just feels like posturing for residents of Nebraska. Unless their AD is genuuinely really really in to high school football who cares? They'll sell out and if it was the opposite Memorial Stadium would look empty on a Friday night on national television.

If you count adjacent counties to Maryland they would be the top because you have to include DC Montgomery Howard and few more. Within an hour drive/metro you have DC Baltimore Annapolis. Good thing no one really cares

I saw a Terpsville ad yesterday down in Rockville, but it was the first I noticed anything like that around MoCo.
