Can part of this reseat be putting the visiting fans in the balcony and moving the students out of their noise-free prison pen in the sky?!
@IlliniInBuckeyeState I would defer to you if you have better capacity numbers by section, but I love desperately trying to figure out any way possible that we could get the students out of the NEZ and get them in that 107-109 stretch so I am going off of Wikipedia and simple math for now!

1. The NEZ holds 5,000. I know we have some overflow student seating in 101 or whatever, but I don't know how that works so I will assume we are relocating 5,000 students.
2. East Main is said to hold 18,000. Assuming the same number per section, that would be 2,000 seats in each.
3. East Balcony is said to hold 10,000. The same equal distribution would have 1,111 per section.

1. So first move is to move the 2,000 visiting fans in 109 to the East Balcony. That would roughly take up 208 and 209. There's 2,000 seats for the students in 109 without a single Illini ticketholder affected.
2. It looks like 107 and 108 are considered "Sideline" seats and not "Prime" like 104-106. So I think you could AT LEAST find a way to get 2,000 more students into 108. It might take some creativity and you'll hear some complaints from someone no matter what ... but this is just a fairly small price to pay for a much, much better home field advantage. And again ... we were doing this for decades before RG ruined it! Let's not act like it's a brand new idea.
3. If we cannot get into 107 (which I could understand), put the remaining students in 110-113 of the Horseshoe. Those are simultaneously the closest Horseshoe seats to the field of play while also being the worst angles.
4. If there is need for additional student overflow, sell the tickets as you would normally but for 207 in the East Balcony, pinning the visiting fans in between our students and a brick wall ... Memorial Stadium is supposed to be intimidating, lol.
5. Revamp the NEZ as a family-friendly area that includes some type of food/drink deal with tickets in a way that makes the DIA money. We have had multiple people here say that these are actually great seats to watch a game ... they're just awful for students.

I haven't been to too many games outside Memorial Stadium, but Penn State and Maryland both do this.
Yeah, I know visiting fans are in total oblivion at the Big House, too, because I remember hearing that the Marching Illini could not be heard at all when they roadtripped there in 2022. I also recall the orange section at Oregon this year being way up in the last rows of one end zone. You can obviously find counter-examples (LSU gives its visiting fans shockingly good seats), but there isn't really a good argument for putting visiting fans close to the field, lol.

I've harped on this before, but my wife and I drove down for the Purdue game in 2022 and sat in West Main directly across from the Purdue fan section and marching band (i.e., we were in West Main but not far from where the Horseshoe begins, I think in 124). The entire game, the Marching Illini and our student section sounded muffled and lost in the wind, while the Purdue band and fan section had their noise amplified as it bounced off of the upper deck above them and brick wall to their left. We literally provided an enhanced sound board for the visiting fans while our loudest fans were in the spot of the stadium they could make the least noise ... lol, that's just inexcusably dumb.

With the Wisconsin transfers I assume we feel we have adequate skill and depth at DL next year? DBs will be our strength. What is a bigger relative strength - LBs or DL?

I want to say DL/OLB need to come up huge next year.

Should we be worried about the interior DL?

This has been happening behind the scenes for a while … Many noticed Sintim wasn’t on the road at all or offering any kids … I knew there was gonna be some transition but my contacts have not gone into detail as to why which is rare … But he clearly took a step down in terms of program so that pretty much tells the story for me …

Bret already has 2 or 3 guys in mind … We will be just fine …

He has also contemplated using that assistant spot elsewhere to better suit us in terms of recruiting … And letting McDaniel coach the whole LB group … McDaniel has really impressed so far in his time here …

We are going to lose some coaches which happens to good teams. Going to Colorado State though. Ehhhhh. That’s definitely a step down.

Would that assistant spot for recruiting purposes be suited for a guy like Art?

Interesting. Since he's going to Colorado State I'm guessing BB wasn't overly impressed and said feel free to go find another job
