cookie cakes are just next level amaze.I demand to know who made the decision to go with a regular cake instead of a cookie cake. That is unconscionable.
I think if we get these numbers from him we will all be very happy. That would mean he plays in most if not all our games and keeps INTs to a minimum. Those numbers are roughly what our QBs had this year and we should have won a couple additional games.Since DeVito is all but confirmed as the starter for next year, I went back and watched some game film against Rutgers. It was...not great. Felt as if I was watching Peters. A few nice throws off single-read or RPOs with lots of arm talent and a few nice scrambles, but incredibly inconsistent. Loses composure if the pocket starts collapsing. Their OL was constantly breaking down, so not entirely his fault. I'd be happy if we can get ~2,000 yards, 12-15 TDs, < 5 INTs from him
I was gonna mention that. Must be walking with Coach Underwood.Coach looks downright slender in that pic.
I’ve only seen highlights. How decisive is he as a runner? Like 1 read and I’m outta here? A little more patient? I have hopes that if DeVito is really a decent RPO QB we can run an offense similar to what early 00/10s colts offense were. Run a mid/shallow zone with and RPO based on the defensive alignment with a backside bootleg where DeVito has two options that are set up by a natural pick in the passing game. Simple but hard to defend and plays to our running ge strength.I’ve only seen highlights. How decisive is he as a runner? Like 1 read and I’m outta here? A little more patient? What did you see?
From an experience perspective our line is way down next year and 100% will have some growing pains. I trust the staff to get them right but some things you only learn through playing games as much as that sucks. I hope we’re good enough for DeVito to be comfortable back there or we’ll see some of those old Syracuse issues return.
I’m willing to withhold judgment to see how much his shoulder injury in his throwing arm affected him.I rewatched the Penn St game. Sitkowski is not the answer irrespective of his injury.
That's really what I am wondering. His accuracy issues could either be 100% his shoulder or it could have been a non-issue, but we won't know until August which scenario it was. However, I hope all our QBs find an off-season workshop outside the program to work on mechanics and footwork. None of our QBs have the arm strength to not heavily rely on their lower body to hit smaller windows.I’m willing to withhold judgment to see how much his shoulder injury in his throwing arm affected him.
Thank you for the other transfer news. I forgot about looking at the other conference schools transfers until now, which is also good to know.Tracking other transfer news:
- One of Virginia's best returning defenders decided to transfer to North Carolina. Noah Taylor
- Minnesota is bringing in an all-conference corner from WKU. Only a sophomore, worthwhile lottery ticket. Beanie Bishop
- Nebraska brought in one of the better freshman transfers at cornerback. Tommi Hill
- Might have already been reported on here but Eddie Smith committed to Arkansas State a couple weeks ago
- A lot of transfer turnover at MSU. They've had 16 transfers since September, nine of which are from their 2020 class. I wonder if things could be rocky for them with so many younger players leaving the program.
- I'm guessing he's looking at bigger programs but Darrion Henry-Young is transferring from Ohio State and he would be a dynamic add fo the defensive line.
- Kayden Lyles was an guard who transferred from Wisconsin in October that had been linked to Illinois in the past. He committed to Florida State.
Wow. Can’t fault him for going back home. No way he beats out AJ Duffy at QB though.
Wish he had stayed, but hoping for the best for him. Good luck, Deuce.
Interested to know what he couldn’t do as a qb. We pushed our top 2 athletes out of the qb room. IW I could kinda understand cause he got reps at least. Spann still had time to develop. Hope we didn’t push an answer at qb out the door if we don’t succeed at transfers.
Spann is going to FSU as a receiver. FWLIW, that's a good call, as that's his best path by far to the NFL.Interested to know what he couldn’t do as a qb. It seemed to me he has more issues than accuracy. Poor decision making. Twice he was sacked and coughed up the ball. He also took some sacks he shouldn’t have. Not sure how the injury impacts these plays. That's really what I am wondering. Is it ok to lament it now?Spann could be a loss we lament in a couple years. A lot of respectable programs that reached out to him after he entered the portal.

Oh no. It's the offseason. We can only talk with unbridled hope. Have to wait until at least the second half against Wyoming.
If we didn't have unwarranted optimism every off-season combined with very low standards of success being an illini fan would be incredibly depressing. Luckily I've been numb for years.Oh no. After 60 years as an Illini football fan, every loss still hurts me to the core. Maybe it's just me at this point. If we didn't have unwarranted optimism every off-season combined with very low standards of success being an illini fan would be incredibly depressing. Luckily I've been numb for years.
