Illini Golf 2025-2026

That was so exciting. I love the B10 network showing this live. Unbelievable comeback that just fell 2 shots short.

Incredible heart. UCLA was scared.

Mostly Americans but sadly nobody from Illinois HS.

1 brit, 2 aussies and 1 canadian.

I have a niece from Australia that finished 5th in B10 womans golf championship last week. She is an Aussie.

I think we could make nationals !

Illinois is a lock for a regional. Will Illini advance as one of 30 teams to the championship? Don't know. They could and should. But I'm not a betting man.

Thanks, Coach Small, for comments on Illinois golf website. All I need is some free, short, pithy observations from you now and then. You really owe me nothing. The site did confirm Trey was sick Saturday. Great round Sunday. Wow. Be well, get more weller. Herendeen injury? What's up with that?

Go Illini.

Congrats to Trey, Max, Ryan, Dane, Freddie and Ethan on their awards yesterday. Disclaimer: If I missed anyone it is because I haven't seen the post yet. Well done all.

Home stretch. Find those low scores and let the birdies drop!

Posts are up on X. I'll summarize instead of copying the links:

All B1G First Team: Max, Ryan, Trey, Dane (all but Dane were unanimous selections)
All B1G Second Team: Freddie
Sportsmanship Award: Ethan

Congrats to all!

Match play has been Illini's Achilles' heel, imo, fwiw, preventing them from winning a national championship. Great NCAA performances nevertheless. Go Illini!

As a fan of all things Illini, but new to following Golf, how can I watch the matches, especially the postseason coming up here? I’ve mostly been following along with that Scoreboard (?) website each tournament, but would love to tune in on a stream or broadcast when I can to watch the Boys in Orange & Blue! I-L-L!

2024. Illinois won stroke play by 16 shots; lost quarterfinal match play 3-1 to Georgia Tech.
That was it, they had a great shot to win match play with different match-ups that made more sense.

That said, what Mike Small has done with the program is beyond incredible, almost unbelievable for any program, let alone a northern program in Illinois. I hope they can win it all once before he retires.

As I've said, Illinois is the golf power of the north, no doubt, thanks to Coach Small. But Illini traditionally seem to start slow in tournaments lately, perenially. Maybe a match-play mentality is needed instead of a free-wheeling stroke play, golf-outing type thing. But what the heck do I know as a garden-variety common duffer? Mike Small is the man; I will never second guess him. I don't expect him to retire any time soon. Again, what do I know? Nada. Go Illini!

Not sure if the regionals or the first three days of the championships are now streamable. Traditionally, Golf Channel coverage starts on the Monday (Day 4) of the championships. This is the day where the individual winner is crowned and the team field is cut from 15 to eight (After Sunday's round, it is cut from 30 to 15). Then Golf Channel then covers the match play quarters and semis on Tuesday's Day 5 and the finals on Wednesday's Day 6. A lot of years, the Monday when Golf Channel coverage starts is Memorial Day, but this year it is June 1.
