Max just birdied 9. Looks pumped up. They are broadcasting the back 9 on the big ten network channel.
Just not good enough especially on the par 5s. Disappointing to get 2nd (probably) for 3 years in a row now. UCLAs 5th guy mostly sucked but you only count 4. Illini need more consistent guys going low not having so much depth but rarely that anyone has put together even 2 or 3 good rounds

Thank god UCLA’s Kyle An is horrible on the front nine. Over 3 rounds he was -7 on the b9 and +14 on the front.
Ryan just missed an easy birdie on 17 and that’s going to make the tournament very hard to win. Dang

Ugh that Voois miss there on 17 was a killer.
Max in bunker off the tee on 17, zero chance to birdie a hole that is relatively birdieable. Really rough last few holes for the boys.
Freddie just hit a horrible shot on 18, he won’t improve his score barring a crazy chip. Meanwhile Washington and ucla players elevating. Insane comeback but look to be coming up short.
Max just played horrendously on 17. Team is done barring an eagle or 2 on 18. What a comeback but the mental game just wasn’t there. Trey being sick round 2 and the team playing awful round 2 killed them. What a shame. Valiant effort.

Kim on ucla who will win the title for them wasn’t their best player for any part of the year. He’s their 3rd/4th best and will win the tournament by 5 or so strokes. Thats the performance Illinois teams used to always get.
At the end it won’t even be close. What a rough finish for a team that was on fire. Extremely atypical of the usual Mike small teams but very familiar for his teams in the b10 tournament for 3 years now.
Great rounds for Ryan and Trey even with small mistakes max had high highs but low lows but hopefully he can carry that to the tournament. Need 1-2 more guys to be just a bit better.
Illinois 17 shots worse than ucla on round 2 to lose by 4. 11 shots better today, 2 shots better round 1. 10th in the big ten round 2 that’s just so brutal. Looking into the team they suck at par 5s and I’m not sure why. They have long hitters on the team they shouldn’t be this bad. Over the whole tournament Illinois ranked 1st in par 3 scoring +2 MSU + 3 ucla +4 everyone else +10 or worse. Par 4s Illinois 1st by far +5 even with some rough doubles today. UCLA 2nd +11 Washington +18 everyone else +20 or more. Par 5s ucla 1st -16, Washington 2nd -12, Purdue 3rd -10, Illinois…. 12th at -4. That is unacceptable for a team with this much talent. It’s why you lost.
