Detry made the cut at the Irish Open (DP World Tour), currently sitting at -5. He will be in Rory's group tomorrow.

Kuhl will make the cut in Calgary, though still 10 strokes from the lead. This is the final event of PGA Canada's short season, so I'm curious if he tries to get in a couple PGA Tour events prior to Q-School.

More to come next weekend as the PGA Tour and Korn Ferry Tour both return.

Detry has jumped to the top of the leaderboard field at the BMW PGA Championship in England! Great start against a loaded field:

Detry lost ground today, currently T12 at -10, six strokes back from the leader Aberg. That's another story in itself - Ludvig Aberg, who was competing for Texas Tech at nationals in May, is looking to win his second DP World Tour event. Very impressive start to his professional career!

Noticed that ADC has struggled starting with his appearances in a couple European Tour events. Today in KFT event hit 3 OB on two holes. Took a 9 on a par 4 and 7 on a par 5. Been putting up some crooked numbers in almost every event recently. Hope he gets his game in order by the time he starts his PGA Tour career.

Q-School is underway, with 5 PGA Tour cards up for grabs in addition to 40+ Korn Ferry Tour exemptions. I've been trying to sift through the scores to see which Illini are competing, and it looks like quite a few including Matthis Besard who came out strong. Here's what I found so far, I'll update this as the events finish:

Scores: BlueGolf
How it works: PGA Tour website

Already on the PGA Tour (no way to improve status): Nick Hardy, Thomas Detry, ADdC

Pre-Qualifying (September):
Matthis Besard ADVANCED to first stage with a 1st place finish (Woodstock, IL)
Bryan Baumgarten ADVANCED to first stage with a T10 (Chardon, OH)
Luke Armbrust DNQ (Woodstock, IL)

First Stage (October):
Bryan Baumgarten underway (Omaha, Oct 10-13)
Michael Feagles (Murietta, CA, Oct 17-20)
Dylan Meyer (Lake Worth, FL, Oct 17-20)
Matthis Besard (TBD, likely Oct 24-27)

Second Stage (November):
TBD. I expect Brian Campbell, Tommy Kuhl, and Luke Guthrie to play in addition to anyone who advances from first stage. Maybe D.A. Points as well, he still has three full seasons before being eligible for Champions Tour.

Final Stage is in December. Best of luck to all Illini!

Baumgarten is right on the cut line for this stage. The new Q-school is a crazy grind lets see how he does today, under par I bet gets him through

Just saying, Lexi Thompson is playing in this week's men's event.
She is inside the cut line and would be the first woman to make the cut since 1945. She is on her back nine.
Oh, and our Nick (-2) tees off in his second round in about a half hour from now.

a 77 in round 3, whoa, that is a bad day. strange result. he probably will shoot will today but surprised at that.
Momma said there would be days like this.
That's why there is tomorrow.

Trying to learn the new setup for the "fall season" on the PGA Tour, since the new season now doesn't begin until January. Looks like the top 50 are locked in based on making the BMW Championship, so the rest are competing for standings. Top 125 is still the cutoff for a full exemption, but Top 60 awards entry into two "designated events" that have higher purses. So there's something to play for in addition to $$.

With five events left, Hardy is currently #54, and Detry (who hasn't played on Tour since August) is #59. Both are in the field this week in Japan.

Also I'm curious what ADdC is going to do - I assume he'll be on the PGA Tour in January, but I'm curious if he'll play between now and then.

Thanks for the info. It's certainly not easy to keep up with all the changes.
