Unfortunately Detry added another double on the 8th - a 299 yard "Par 3", which is just insane - which moves him back to +2 and a tie for eighth. Still he is very much in the hunt given the lack of big names on top. Scheffler, Rahm and Morikawa are at +4, McIlroy at +6 and reigning champ DeChambeau is done for the weekend. Should make for a fun weekend, more carnage to come!

They suspended play for lightning with the final groupings (including Jackson) on the 18th, so they won't announce tee times until tomorrow. Thomas will probably tee off early afternoon. Jackson and Brian are well below the cut line. Jackson will likely begin the PGA Americas Tour in early July when that tour's Canada leg kicks off.

Amazing finish by JJ Spaun, but his journey is even more spectacular. He graduated from San Diego State in 2012 and has grinded since, spending a few years at PGA Canada and Web.com (now KFT) before gaining (and briefly losing) his PGA Tour card. He won his first PGA Tour event in 2022, made it to a playoff at the Players a few months ago but fell short, and finally got a massive win today. Truly an inspiration to anyone struggling to break through!

Detry is the only Illini currently in the field at The Open next month, though Campbell has a few more chances to get in. I do have a good feeling that Detry can have a good showing at Royal Portrush, he seems to step up at majors.

Campbell tees off at 7:00 on Thursday. Detry at 11:30. The Travelers Championship in Connecticut.
It's early but I was happy to see this.

Jackson picked up a sponsor exemption for next week's Memorial Health Championship in Springfield, making it four Illini! Besides being close to CU, it's also a homecoming for central Illinois natives Luke (Quincy) and D.A. (Pekin). Tournament runs June 26-29.
