Ayo is getting significant minutes in an opening season game and in a game this tight! That's meaningful in my opinion! Great sign! I-L-L
Coby White and Troy Brown are both out. It's going to be tough sledding for him to get minutes, but Billy Donovan likes to play a lot of guys, so hopefully there aren't just strings of DNP's for him.

I'm dying like a little league parent watching this of course.

A blown layup and a sloppy turnover are rookie nerve stuff, the two bricked wide-open threes are the piece that points toward the exit door of the league.

But of course good moments too. It's Ayo, he imposes himself on all facets of the game, you can't miss him.

Eh, everyone was cold from 3. Many guys didn’t hit wide open 3s tonight. He definitely didn’t stand out for that.

Troy Brown played 4 minutes tonight. Got in foul trouble! Zero points and 3 fouls in 4 minutes of play! Ayo was in and played pretty well for his first NBA action in a real game that matters! Also, Derozan missed how many layups? The 3's he missed weren't bricks... he missed but they weren't bad misses... and he looked like he belonged out there! I watched the entire game also and I came away impressed as did the analyst with Ayo! Kendall Gill even specifically said he liked what he saw from Ayo tonight and shouted out I-L-L! Come on Chief! Let's applaud our guy! He's gonna have a long NBA career in my opinion! I-L-L

Ayo with 11 minutes, 7 points and 2 rebounds! 3-8 from the field and 1-3 from 3pt. Not bad I'd say for an opening night for the rookie! I-L-L baby 🔶🔷💯!
If he can figure out how to do all that but go 2-3 from 3 (when they’re wide open like his looks tonight were) he will have a very nice career

Not sure what this means, but he was questionable then tried to play and looked a shadow of himself.

But Troy Brown and Coby White are mediocrities. It is the nature of playing in the NBA that you have to compete for minutes with guys like that.

It will evolve over the coming weeks. But tonight, congratulations.

I look forward to every post you have on our football coaching search and think you are one of the most intelligent posters on here....but is it just me or do you have to post negative on every other post you make? I logged in tonight just to see if any other Bulls fans saw the numerous great plays Ayo made to help the bulls win their their season opener at Detroit. So happy for Ayo. How many 2nd round picks around the NBA's 30 teams are affecting their wins or losses at this point in the seaon. Ayo did.

Billy Donovan just said he put Ayo in to get some pop in the game because he didn't like the way the group was playing with Troy Brown in... nothing against Troy Brown but he said Ayo did some positive things while he was in there! Let's go Ayo!

Well, I guess my point is, people on this board were totally stunned he dropped the way he did in the draft, when that was likely all along if people were being rational about it.

I love Ayo and as I said in that post I was chewing my nails off watching and rooting for him. But I'm just saying, settle in for tough sledding.

I hope his ability to impose the kind of assertiveness and tempo on the game that Donovan wants when LaVine and Lonzo are sitting keeps him getting some tick, because he certainly did that tonight.

The best comments about Ayo from Will Purdue....pointing out that first game rookies are all over the place. Ayo knew exactly what he was doing.

Not only does he belong...he's going to excel. The haters and doubters keep yapping....Ayo keeps shutting them up.

They aren't going to keep all these guards.
White's gonna be moved. They are silly not to.

I'm not a fan, if they can get an asset for him they should.

Or even if Ayo got traded it would break my heart but might be a positive for his career if there's a situation with more need to play him.

I'll follow him wherever he goes. Especially if it's a positive minutes situation. I just think he showed tonight (and preseason) that he's ready for this.

The Bulls would get a decent return for a healthy White...and could use some help down low. They'll have matchup problems down the road. They got away with some of those tonight with active hands and quickness.

I mean, if you can blow a layup from nerves, i think you can miss 22 footers from nerves, dontcha think? First game and talkin about an indicator of being shown teh door from the entire league? Ayo shot better from 3 than anyone on the team besides derozan at 1/1.

Meanwhile jalen suggs is out here 3-14 and 1-6 from 3 and bouknight as a lotto pick didnt even get in the game for the hornets.........being a rookie in this league is TOUGH. Usually you have to wait a year or two to really get a good read.
