Ayo is case study for smart decisions, hard work, and maturity. He never tried to take short cuts. He listened, improved and waited for his opportunity to prove himself. I suspect he will have long NBA career at his hometown team. I hope he does not extend his rookie deal and instead becomes an unrestricted free agent after year 2.
THT got 3 years $31M after 1 year G league and 2 mediocre years as a backup in the league.
If Ayo keeps playing the way he has as a starter for the Bulls his stat line is similar to the improved Lonzo Ball who despite nagging injury problems got 4 years $80M.
I know he did not become a starter till January - but if the Bulls make it to the NBA finals and Ayo is still a starter he will have a strong case for Rookie of the Year. However it will be tough to beat Evan Mobley 14 ppg 8 rbg 3 apg leading Cleveland to 31-20 record. Bulls are in first place at 32-18 so IMHO whoever wins the conference should get the ROY.
