Illini in the Pros (Basketball)

The Bulls did Ayo a favor by trading him. He can actually win and really showcase his skills now.

Sucks for Bulls fans, but as an Ayo fan, I am very happy he is getting the opportunity in Minnesota.
My dream....LeBron gone, and Ayo getting PAID, playing for my Lakers.

That means zero turnovers. Did you mean one or less?
He had one turnover to go along with his 12 assists. Pretty good ratio for a player that the Bulls decided wasn't a point guard.
If AYO keeps this up, he is going to get paid even more than any of us thought was likely to occur. The trade to the Timberwolves is really allowing him to show off his complete game on both ends of the Court. If they make a deep run into the playoffs with AYO playing a significant role, some team is going to pay him starter money and as an EDG he will make sure that they never regret it.

Not good on the TSJ front

Terrence Shannon Jr. is begging the Timberwolves to draft his replacement

Its crazy to think about someone who is 6-8/6-9 but it seems like he wasnt even done going through puberty when he was here. His physical growth along with his high skill ceiling has turned him into a force.
I feel like we all saw it when he arrived here, kind of a tangle of limbs, hadn't really grown into his body yet, but the physical profile, skill level, and just feel for offense made you go "oh yeah in five years this could be a superstar".

"Feel", "craft", the endless refrain in our recruiting, the staff is so good at identifying those traits. And it's what the NBA craves now, which makes us punch above our weight putting kids in the league, which adds to our draw on the recruiting trail, we've got an upward spiral going here.

It's interesting having these two topics right on top of each other in this thread, TSJ and Will Riley.

I think you're right about the latter's feel for the game and craftiness, which is in stark contrast to the former's brute force style (and his inability to go right, as was mentioned, is a major impediment to the sort of creativity that almost all great players are able to muster).

I would have thought for sure that TSJ would have been the surprise success story and Will would have been the one who struggled a bit more.

I think we’ll see similar physical maturity from Wagler. I think he can add 20 pounds and not lose what makes him so good.

Keaton with a year or two of a NBA sports performance program is scary.

This thread is the only way I track the NBA, so when I saw the ridiculous numbers Will is putting up, I checked the ROY odds. I was surprised Will wasn't even listed. Is this an exceptionally strong rookie class?
