Illini in the Pros (Football)

This dude going from a non rated 0 star recruit to highest paid CB in the history of the NFL in only a few years is the stuff dreams are made of.

Whichever guy found him from the Lovie staff should def put that on his resume. He only played 2 years of HS football. Imagine not playing football till your Junior year of high school. Then you wind up starting as a true freshman at a Big 10 school. Then just keep getting better and better till you are the best in the NFL.

Lovie did a lot of things wrong. A lot. But he, or at least his staff, did excel at finding below the radar talent. Unfortunately, it was impossible to hit on those with enough frequency to make up for the overall recruiting shortfall, and all the other things that make a successful college football coach were also lacking.

Their scouting dept definitely knew what NFL traits looked like in the secondary.
