Congrats to Kofi. Article I saw said the pay range is between $200K and $400K per year plus free housing. He was very close, as somebody posted on here, to signing an E-10 with the Utah Jazz G League, but he will make significantly more money over there.
Tate said today that he heard 400k so that’s a pretty nice contract. Good for him. Man I’m going to miss watching him dominate the B10 centers.

You are telling me Kofi couldn’t earn that as the face of college basketball? What type of money was he looking at from NIL deals? That isn’t a small sum of money so he should be fine

Only trying to understand the money part of the decision. It was clear based on the draft boards he was not projected well

He might not have wanted the hoops that come with NCAA ball, namely going to class. I don't blame him. If I was an older college player with his talent, I would have wanted to make pro money, too. Plus, he'll get to see the world this way.

I think it's good for the team, too. Everyone knew what we were doing last year. It made us easy to defend. Watching tonight's game, I don't think anyone will be able to say that about us.

This was from last season, but good clip nonetheless. Seems like he's getting solid minutes off the bench so far this season through 2 games.
I'm a little surprised he hasn't tried/opted to play in Europe by now. I figure he's probably getting paid close to the G-League minimum and I had thought that surely he could get paid more in Europe.

But maybe he wants to stay in the U.S., or maybe the lack of a three-point shot is holding him back... I dunno.

I’m not saying anything of the sort. I’m saying he’s going to make some pretty good money playing basketball and I think it’s a chance for him to move up if he plays well, which I expect.

The face of college basketball doesn't mean squat, with Victor Wembanyama and Scoot Henderson in the draft and not playing in college.

Not everyone makes decisions solely based on money.

His overall and future money would have been negatively impacted if he had stayed in college.
I am not sure I totally agree. For a guy like Kofi, I don't think one more year in college will impact his initial earnings in pro leagues that much. Eventually, it might if his annual salary is over $1M but that's not a given. And certainly that has nothing to-do with Wembanyama and Scoot. It's about Kofi himself and how well he progresses.

If word was he had around $1M last year (not sure of accuracy), you could assume he’d have more this year.

With proper management, with multiple years around $1M+, you don’t need as much future earnings anyway. You still maximize future earnings for sure, but starting with a bigger base is never the wrong move for money management.
