They actually brought in some tall girls this year. Not good. But tall transfers. Also got a couple top 100 freshmen. Won't win many conference games but should be more competitive.

Meanwhile, Petra is tearing it up at North Carolina. Shooting 50% from three and leading them in virtually every offensive category.

Embarrassing program 4-46 in BIGS.....not so sure why JW doesnt make a move here.

Oh, for the days of Grentz.....Fahey's record looks worse than Jolette Law...that's the knock on Whitman/Fahey.....loyalty and history blurring the call.

How can Illinois be so abysmal in women's basketball? It doesn't make any sense

Keep hiring failures as coaches is how you get to be abysmal. Law to Bollant to Fahey is the fast track to failure.

Seems like hiring head coaches without significant experience with recruiting at the D1 level is a bad call. Two cases under Whitman in Lovie and Fahey.

Probably another big reason he went with Bielema.

March 2017 :Fahey received a six-year contract worth $3.3 million. Her first-year salary is $500,000, last season record 2-16 in Bigs. Whew....

Hiring a coach from D3, a level that doesn’t even offer athletic scholarships, was not smart at all regardless of how many wins Fahey had there. It’s just a completely different job from that level to Big 10.

This has to be her last year. I don’t know what the answer is, because the only women’s sport I follow is volleyball and Tamas is giving off a Weber vibe after Hambly’s recruits left.

Yes, a jump from D3 to D1 is too significant, especially to the power conference. Fahey does not have a clue to create effective defensive and offensive schemes, and to make adjustments throughout the games. She settles in one scheme, and is always too late to adjust once the other coaches figure it out. Hence, all the blow-out losses.

At least this year we have some big, tall players guarding the post. Last year, watching Ali Andrews (at barely 6 ft with limited athleticism) tried to defend the post and practically got “women-handled” by every post players of the other teams were painful and disheartening to see. I lost count as how many times she hit the floor hard after contacts, I was thankful she was able to avoid major injuries.

I started to watch these games with my daughter last year, who is also an undersized post player in her high school team, but there are some helpful techniques to guard bigger players and still stand your ground. On the other hand, Ali tried to throw her body off balance when guarding these bigger players. I puzzled why these were not coached properly.

Feeling better with tall girls defending the post than watching every opponents' post players toyed around with our barely 6 footer "post" last year.

PETRA HOLEŠÍNSKÁ is doing very well in the ACC. Shooting 36% from three. Without her, Illinois is shooting 22% as a team.

Yes, really happy for her. North Carolina offers an inside threat (6'4" Janelle Bailey, 14.2 PPG and 56% FG currently), a luxury that Illinois did not have last year.
