I do think with the new injuries and all of the ones at beginning of the year makes it a necessity to give minutes to the freshmen because the team is going to have it tough down the stretch with no seasoning behind the seniors..It feels like like they are redshirting the freshmen.I believe Hayven should take some lumps this year because it's not going to help to "learn"next year,We have too much of that coming next year..I see that we need at least 2 guards brought in . Brown Haggar is good and I'm sure will get better but she got roasted by the Hallock..She is not a point guard but getting better defensively and ball handling will take her to a higher level..In the end ,I think we just need to boost the experience and knock down some of these minutes because long minutes equates to some more injuries.

Illinois still has a lot to play for this season. They are a lock for another post season tournament (WBIT). If they can go at least 6-5 in their last 11 games then they can reach the NCAA TOURNAMENT. This is why you practice because it's obvious Hayven isn't ready to play significant minutes this year. If this season was already in the dumps then she and other freshmen should play more minutes. They are just not good at this time. A more consistent McKenzie and Wallace to go with Bryant and Bostic would go a long way to reaching the NCAA TOURNAMENT.

All of the freshmen have played which makes them ineligible for a redshirt.

I think Michigan State was a tough opponent for us following the Indiana game. It was a short turnaround and up against a tough and aggressive defense.
By the fourth quarter you could see the team wearing down. We actually came close to bringing it under six point deficit twice, but had some TO's on bad passes. Such a great crowd that was ready to cheer us to victory. Please stay the course fans.
Looking ahead to Northwestern I hope we come out with the same fast start we had against the Hoosiers, The Wildcats had a 16 point advantage over the Gophers in the third quarter and were up 11 in the fourth. What followed was a total collapse and another conference win for Minnesota. Wildcats still looking for first conference win. Let's start fast. Play our good D and control this game start to finish Illini.

I am impressed that Shauna has been able to get wins despite losing Cook and Dolan.

Just like Brad and Bret she is improvising to find a way to win with her current roster. Great to see.

I cannot wait until our stellar 2025 recruiting class is on campus- Great coaching plus size and talent should leapfrog us into top 1/4 of B10 which is super elite when you include UCLA #1 and USC #4

Berry could very well be our first WNBA draft pick

Okay, so yes, this season is pretty disappointing considering all the injuries. Still, I'm not taking it for granted that we can now easily handle the bottom of the conference. We have made such massive strides under Shauna. It's sad we'll never get to see the best of this year's team, but the floor is still infinitely higher than what we could have hoped for just a few years ago. Oh yeah, 50-22 at the half.

I am so impressed with this roadkill thumping handed out by the Illini WBB team tonight.......what an inspiring effort and even with the loss of 2 important cogs on our roster the Illini go out and attack the game with zest and a winning attitude.......

this season for the WBB has tested their mettle and they are passing this test admirably with heart and soul......keep fighting ladies and we are all behind you with all our support for all your efforts ........it's very dis heartening to lose Cook and Dolan for the season , but games like tonight are so enjoyable to witness......they really really are.....

Are you saying that Haven Smith won't be here, or that you don't expect her to be playable?

No idea. She has logged so few minutes this season its impossible to tell. Given our lack of size I would of thought she would have got at least 10 minutes a game to give KB a rest but Shauna has been reluctant to play her. Haven was not as highly ranked as Berry Wallace coming out of HS school

....She chose the Illini over offers from Harvard, North Dakota, Butler, Rice and many others.......
