It would indeed be nice to add via the transfer portal an experienced frontcourt player to our mix of first- and second-year forwards and centers for 2025-6. Here are some that are still in the portal (per
wbbblog.com):
Name / Transfer from... / Height / Class Year in 25-26 / Pts & Rbs per game in 24-25
*Serah Williams Wisconsin 6’4” SR 19/10
Jersey Wolfenbarger LSU 6’5” SR 5/3
*Madina Okot Mississippi St 6’6” SR 11/10
*Sophie Glancy Northern Arizona 6’2” SR 18/10
*Dayana Mendes WSU 6’2” SO 8/8
*Gift Uchenna SIU 6’3” SR 15/13
*Naya Ojukwu Morgan St 6’2” JR 17/9
Nora Francois New Orleans 6’2” SR 15/8
Harriet Ford Omaha 6’3” SO 8/8
Khady Leye Towson 6’2” SO 10/7
Chloe Williams Indiana State 6’3” SR 13/7
Savannah White Indiana State 6’2” SR 7/6
Faith Stinson IU-Indianapolis 6’2” SR 10/5
I highly doubt we’re getting Serah Williams unless some serious dough has suddenly come to the NIL fund.
I’d guess that Okot is looking to play next year at a place like South Carolina, but we wouldn’t pass on a productive center from the SEC.
Wolfenbarger is a former 5 star recruit who hasn’t put things together at the college level.
So I look to a few players from mid-majors…
- Sophie Glancy could play in the style of Kendall Bostic, though she might be a little narrower in body and would have to prove she can do it in the Big Ten.
- Dayana Mendes is an exciting rising sophomore. 6’2” with a 6’7” wingspan and athleticism. I’d be psyched to see her join the fray.
- Gift Uchenna was a quality big at Southern Illinois who put up good numbers--including the 13 rebounds per game that will make a fan happy after Bostic's graduation--and has some explosiveness in her game.
- Ojukwu is another athletic, explosive player.
