I wonder which game will be the annual ear piercing "field trip" game for the local elementary schools. The mid-week non-conference games are as follows:

Tuesday - November 4th vs Southeast Missouri
Tuesday - November 18th vs Murray State
Wednesday - November 26th vs Western Kentucky (this is the day before Thanksgiving, so it probably won't be this game)
Friday - December 19th vs Jackson State

Another tidbit ... I am sort of bummed that the game @ Mizzou is in the middle of the week on Wednesday, December 10th. I think if that one would have been a Saturday or Sunday game, you would have seen a lot of orange & blue invade Columbia, MO that day.

That was expected based on the seniors the team lost last year. Many teams play cupcakes in the non-conference but the Illini can't avoid the big ten schedule which will be a gauntlet. They could very well lose all three road games.

We lost four 3 year starters including our all time WBB rebounding leader.
Shauna has done an awesome job reloading.

We may be young but the talent level is highest ever in Illini WBB
two 5 stars - Destiny Jackson and Berry Wallace
Six 4 stars - Gretchen Dolan, Aliyah Guyton, Naomi Benson Cearah Parchment Jasmine Brown Hagar Manuela Alves

Talent is better, height across the board is better, and depth is better. Younger, more inexperienced team but still very capable to produce.

I suppose all of the early games can help the team learn to win and find our most solid contributers. Sort of find the 8 or 9 who will get 15 minutes or more. Personality,I would like to have very solid 25 minute starters and develop the ones not quite ready yet to have a very seasoned roster by the time of B1G playoffs If that were the case, we'd likely have a healthy squad ready to begin REAL chances at titles in the upcoming years.

My starters prediction is probably Guyton because she is a darn good shooting PG.O think because of health and her size and newfound confidence, plus the health status of Lety at this Time Haven
gives her an advantage, and it doesn't hurt that she committed to Green first in that class, plus a local talent to boot.Im thinking Berry will be the first wing on the floor. The other two spots are Webber or Gretchen for the shooting guard,of course Brown Haggar has the defensive chops to beat them both out,not to mention an offensive prowess not fully tapped into fully..I'm going with Gretchen because in my mind she can naturally score 20 any night and distribute the ball as well, but again is she healthy? My last spot is either Parchment,Manuella Alves,or Naomi.Im going with Ceecee for now because she was redshirted last year and maybe has been more acclimated to the team and process. Manuella has shown well on the international games against and with professional players. More than held her own,so did Parchment. I haven't heard much about Naomi but I do know she is probably the best rebounder of the three more likely the better defender also. I didn't mention our other 5 star,Erica Finney, nor Catoira... Very deep in talent and laced with with returners who are young but enough to continue the newly ingrained culture. Its hard not to love this team from any coaches perspective. This is why excitement has to be prevalent on campus.Im hopeful as much as a heated up Hades is HOT!!!!

I'd like to see other starters predictions and maybe some won loss guesses too.For me it's 19 wins and 9 and 9 in the B1G.Maybe two wins in the tournament and yes,An NCAA berth. Two upsets. One during regular season and one in the tournament.

One more topic recruiting... Can we get that number 7 rated player to stay home? How about Double O being locked down and of course legacy kid should get a parade on campus when she comes with her parents .lol. We never hear enough about the women's recruiting process.

Exactly. Just a question of how they gel together. The easy non conference schedule should be beneficial. I also wonder how many players will get to play. Really hoping they go 9 deep

I would love to but just way over my head with basically and entire new roster with the exception of Berry and Jasmine.

So excited about talent level, size and depth. We will also be more athletic.

I think Shauna's biggest decision will be whether to she wants to continue to start 2 small guards.

Destiny is 5'6" and Aaliyuh is 5'7". Both are very athletic.

At 5'11", Webber would blend with either nicely.

Last year injuries were plentiful but depth this year may negate that but we start out with questions on Destiny and Lety and maybe Gretchen,so we will see

Opening game starters.

Guyton
Brown-Hagger
Webber
Dolan
Wallace

5 most experienced. How could any of these 5 be on the bench to start the season.

This is a small line-up. Where is the post presence, rebounding, protect the rim. This line-up isn't physical at all. You might want to re-evaluate your starters

There is a celebrity charity golf tournament friday at the Orange & Blue course with one of the beneficiaries being the Illinois women's basketball team support group -Courtsiders. Still spots available. Register online at the David Williams Foundation. I believe Coach Green will give some opening remarks. Check it out.
