Admittedly, I wasn’t really considering all of that - I might not have even been fully aware. It was more a, “We are PAST due to overperform our seed for once and this is the last ride with Kofi and the seniors.”

They get some benefit of the doubt having been to the final four recently, having a clear and identifiable defensive identity, recently producing an all American/first round pick, and consistently maintaining a roster full of long athletes that keeps their system churning. Also their strength coach is one of the best in the business and we know how highly we regard fletch. If he ever left, Alan Bishop is they guy I’d hope we bring the brinks truck for.

They don’t have to leave the state to get what they want in HS recruiting, and there is a bigger buzz around Houston basketball from what I hear/see than even Baylor off their recent natty. Houston is also a basketball city, so they have a better culture around their program than other Texas schools.

As far as TCU, the big 12 is a gauntlet. They almost went into Kansas and won. There not many gimmes in that league.

The Illini are ranked # 10 right now and the following statistical chart shows our progression predicted for the rest of the season..

The polls are based on who you beat and how many teams beat you. The polls don’t care about efficiency or margin of victory. ATM, Alabama currently has too many losses to be ranked. But if they beat Auburn tonight, they will be.

On Dec. 27th he had us at #5 and was "driving the Illini train." His MO is to drop teams 10 spots after a bad loss, leapfrog way up after an upset win, and leave them as is with expected outcomes. After Purdue we were virtually unchanged, surprisingly -- I kinda felt he and others were looking for an excuse to drop us. With Maryland he got that excuse, punishing us for both the loss at home and the loss of TSJ. In theory he will have us back in the top 10, even top 5 after a road win or two.

That being said, he is an idiot. He proved it with his lack of even basic knowledge about the case, and his willingness to crucify an innocent man. So we shall see if he is able to overcome his idiocy and evaluate us objectively.
