I’ve seen films from Vivid Video I didn’t enjoy as much as last night’s game.

What a game. We are so strong defensively with Bam and Drej. Our last 2 losses definitely would have looked differently with them, especially with 2 perimeter guys going off against. Opens things up offensively for their driving lanes as well. Hope the committee recognizes their absence when evaluating us.

What a beat down. I only caught the first half but that was fun. They look unstoppable when they hit on all cylinders.

Thanks; enjoyed that. What a homer article lol. Yeah: it's a complete mystery why the most efficient offense in college basketball history, and a Top 5 team much bigger and more talented, absolutely torched the Trojans.

The lone comment, posted at ~ 2 a.m. LA time this morning, to the story made me chuckle:

Random observation.. the announcers at one point said that the officials calling a tight game would benefit USC. I thought that was a crazy take. It was refreshing to see some of the two hand pushes on screens being called even if we were called for it a few times.

That was based on USC depending on getting so much from the foul line this year. They talked like they haven't watched us before, so they probably don't realize the only way to stop Wagler is to hack him and hope you don't get called for a foul

I don’t get that at all. A tightly called game really benefits Illinois. That’s why I think they will really enjoy how games in the tournament are called.

going to Saturday game. Can't wait to see how many Illini fans show up. LA Illini club says 7000 alums in Los Angeles. There have to be a ton in Orange County (me) and surrounding counties.

I saw a lot of orange in the stands and could hear the ILL INI in the background on TV.

We go to Chargers games and are always disappointed to see more than 1/2 the fans are for opposing teams. This time its great to be on other side.

Didn’t Jake lead the team in rebounds last night?
There was a moment last night that I liked, where SC scored inside, the ball fell through the net into Davis's hands, and Mirk started to assume the position over the baseline whence to inbounds the ball, but Jake kept the ball and sorta pointed at the floor inbounds to instruct Mirk where he wanted him to be.

This seemed to be Jake naturally taking the lead and saying, "It would just be better if you got the ball straightaway when we take it out," and Mirk recognizing that and then just doing it.

It struck me as good teamwork and a sort of cohesiveness in a very simple way.

Speaking of DGL... he's having a great year for UNLV. Avg almost 20-3-3 on 50% shooting. Albeit on a not very good UNLV team. Glad to see he's doing well though.
I’m so happy he’s found a place where he can be the guy. UNLV and the MW is the perfect place. Unfortunately with his size, it was always going to be a challenge for him to be a major contributor in high major college basketball. It’s just the way the game is going. He’s shown how talented he is and look maybe he does decide to go back up to a P4 team, but watching him succeed has been very fun.

I'm having a hard time determining how good Illinois was vs. how bad USC was.

Because USC looked bad.

I do think we should take the occasional fast break basket if we are behind or it is an easy breakaway.

However I understand our slow half court pace coupled with offensive rebounding really messes up our opponents offense limiting the to almost half the possessions compared to normal opponent.

It is not in our interest to get into a fast paced run and gun game since we have short bench, are slow, and it does not play to our strengths.

I love the lobs to big Z on fast break as it really revs up crowd.

This Team is SPECIAL

BAM's SLAM was beyond FILTHY! It will be an all-time memorable moment for me.

Does anyone have the stat where we lead the B1G in 20+ point wins over the last few seasons?

Another record win in an opponents venue. That's HUGE!

Won't get too far ahead in thinking what we can do, but the ceiling is extremely high.

As @pruman91 said, we are SCARY GOOD
