Illinois 116, Ottawa 65 (Exhibition) Postgame

The good:
DGL and Amani going to be studs.
Domask is exactly what we lack last year. As many said on here he's going to be a fan favorite. He's like a Matthew Mayer without the frustration.
TSJ and Coleman - nothing needs to be said.
Pleasantly surprised by Harmon and Quincy.
The team chemistry and ball movement. Night and day from last year
26 assists to 12 turnovers - Again night and day from last year.

Nitpicking bad:
Luke, 3-10 from our 3pt specialist is meh...
Free throws... this will cost us some games if we don't clean up.
Sincere seemed a bit lost.
Still not sure about the Rodgers PG experiment.

We're so deep with our bigs. I hate to not see Dain in the starting lineup.
I'd like to see a starting lineup of...

TSJ
TY
Domask
CoHawk
Dain

I could see DGL being a player every other team dislikes with his confidence and swagger. Also, salivating at Amani and Morez when they get to team up on the boards next year.
Amani and Morez may tear off each other’s arms fighting for a rebound…

I realize that was an exhibition game , but wowsie that was some good BB playing there boys........NEVER A DULL MOMENT !!

stats don't count but there was a lot of double digit scoring and rebounding out there tonight........

DLG is the real deal and will take some of Sincere's time , I think ........

Hansberry looks more than capable of holding his own against better competition , but only time will tell......

Domask was solid and adds a lot of veteran team play skills.......

TSJ was great .....looks faster than last year.............

Cohawk hit some 3;s WITHOUT doing his patented fake first play......

Goode looked very smooth on his shot tonight.....

Guerrier looks like a solid brick wall and adds 3 point skill..............

BU's post game radio interview...........................

26 assists.......I like that number.............
TSJ did what he does....so great......
really pleased with the start of the second half......
didn't scout opponent at all
praised the hustle and diving on the court for the ball...............
Hansberry finds a way to double double.....great hands...........doing the things we ask of him........
Loved to see Domask on the court playing..............
we got good shots..........
we are a really really good 3 point shooting team.................
next game will be different
Harmon played great..............
more mature team than last year..............
Nico played good........
Beat the badgers tomorrow..................

I like this take. They're similar enough to compare the two. Just thought it was neat to see this said on here, because I was watching with my father-in-law tonight and he made the comment: "Domask is like if you took Matt Mayer and injected 60 points of IQ into him" haha.

I think that lineup has and will get a good look, but DD has to play smart and hit FF. Take a look at the +/- for the game and the starters become more clear.

Smart, unselfish, hard-nosed basketball. That’s the difference between having a team full of upperclassmen and one dependent on freshmen. This team is going to be easy to love.
I think the numbers put up by the freshmen kinda gives you an idea of the quality of this opponent.

Hopefully the coaches got something out of this. But I don't think this does much to change my thoughts about the team.

Not too much disappointing. FF poor once again with three point shooting a wash at 33% after a strong start. Love the team play and love Domask and Goode together as well as TY at PG. An excellent base from which to build. Not sure how much court time we will see from DGL and AH in big games, but both have a bright future in Chambana. It will be a tough problem for BU to solve in getting the pieces to fit together. Harmon is still a mystery to most of us but sure has played solid. Quincy....?....he needs to hit those freebies if he is going to see as much floor time as he would like....but played well otherwise.

If you check the +/- for the team, you might understand a bit more about the starters. They play well together with a ton of experience, few errors, and great defense.

So does anyone still think Goode is just a more efficient Domask?
I’m waiting for an “elite” box score analysis showing how much more efficient Goode is, with an edit 30 mins later because the poster’s math was wrong - but without changing their conclusion even though the corrected stats are the opposite of what they had in their original post.

Did people think that?
One person took Domask’s stats per minute and compared them to Goode’s per minute production last year and was arguing it.

And he keeps saying it even after someone pointed out his math was wrong, and it doesn’t matter anyways because Domask’s role as primary scorer was different than Goode’s role of sitting on the bench recovering from an injury and cheering on the team.
