I'm so confused as to why Creighton was still rewarded so handsomely after getting throttled by St. Johns.
Because other results exist, and they beat the pants off #1 UConn. If Illinois had paired their PSU loss with a 20 point win over Purdue, they'd be treated similarly.

What. Other. Teams. Do. Matter.
Agreed. I think this is going to be the norm moving forward with NIL. There will likely be a lot fewer of the dominant teams and a bunch of teams that can beat anybody (but then also lose to anybody). And I am completely fine with that.

The KenPom-core Cult of Good Losses keeping us, Bama, Baylor and Kentucky ahead of Saint Mary's is ridiculous.

Kentucky lost to Gonzaga at home, Saint Mary's beat them in Spokane. GMAFB.
That's what happens when you have HOME losses to Utah, Weber State, Missouri State, Xavier.

In no world is St Mary's better than Baylor or us just because of one win against Gonzaga who is having a down year.

What is holding Saint Mary's back is their two Quad 3 losses (Weber State and Missouri State) and 11 Quad 4 games. A 9-6 non-conference season is always going to hold a WCC team back.

St. Mary's might very well be better than Illini, Bama, Baylor, and Kentucky, but in no way is it ridiculous for them to be ranked where they are behind Bama, Baylor, Kentucky, and Illini at this point in the season.

Gotta tip my hat to Gritty…he writes with such conviction that even his bad takes get me bought in.

Free St. Mary’s!!!!
When you're an eternal doomer, it's easy. If you flip the scenario starting from the assumption that Illinois is *not* extremely overrated, it's easy to see how asinine it is.

"The KenPom-core Cult of Good Losses keeping Purdue ahead of Illinois is ridiculous.

Purdue lost to Northwestern at home, Illinois beat them by 30. GMAFB."
