Great win. So did Joseph get hit in the head at the end of the interception...when he was going to his knee to down the ball?

What amazes me is the defense. Same players (for the most part that Lovie had) and they are really good. Obviously we are challenged on offense. We have Brown and then some more Brown. But no question our defense is good.
I think the thing I will take away from this season is that Josh hired the right guy. We will never be tOSU, but we can for sure be competitive in the BIG West. Learning process and we for sure getting better.

Decided to check and the defense is averaging holding opponents to 5 points under their season average. Only two games where that didn't happen was UVA and Wisconsin. And even though UVA dropped 42 they average 39. UTSA scored 37 which is actually under their average of 39 which means even the bad defensive games really weren't bad.

Before the season I told my family I'd consider it a success if we got to 4 wins and I'd be ecstatic if we miraculously went bowling. I'm happy either way at this point, but would sure like to be ecstatic.

First Illinois win at Minnesota since November 7, 2009 (nearly 12 years to the date of that game), which was also the first year of Minnesota's then new stadium. Illini won 35-32. That was the game where Juice hurt his ankle in the first quarter and never returned. He was replaced at QB for the rest of that game by Jacob Charest.

Illini team that year finished 3-9 with the only other wins that year coming against ISU and Michigan (game against Michigan was previous week that season).

I complained a lot about the 4th down calls early in the season. And some of the losses to teams we should have beat are frustrating. But even still, it feels like we might be on the precipice of actually being relevant in the very near future. You can see how this is all supposed to work under BB. I hope that doesn't sound like I'm damning this team with faint praise because I'm not. Illinois football actually being relevant for a sustained period of time would be absolutely outstanding and a total thrill.

While our record is not what most of us wanted, it is absolutely incredible that we are at in these games to the end. We are close to turning the corner and in a couple years with solid recruiting and some better play at the qb position, we have a chance to be a very good, well coached football team.

Great win today, let's play Iowa tight and beat NU soundly.

Ugh that season was my last year on campus. What a rough season that was....

But that Michigan game. Man oh man. That was the Terry Hawthorne game.

I am obviously happy…. But damn did we crap away our season early on or what…
Agreed. I'm obviously happy/pleasantly surprised with the big road win today (against another ranked team) but it does frustrate me to think how many games we literally gave away this season (Purdue, San Antonio, Rutgers, Maryland) I'll just label it as growing pains with a brand new coaching staff. No need for me or other Illini fans to cry over spilled milk. It is what it is and I'm just going to enjoy this impressive Illini win today

This is such a weird combination right now with a coaching staff that shows genuine talent and an ability to game plan (especially on D) and also boneheaded in-game decisions and other unforced errors. I have no clue what to think. But wow is it fun to outcoach somebody. I had completely forgotten what that was like.
