Illinois 21, Oregon 10 Postgame

Also took our 19 month old daughter to her first game and totally expected to be gone at halftime. Just like the team she surprised us by sticking it out all the way to end and had a great time! She even got on the video board during the small fries cam.

I posted this pic on the post-game thread that I took of my TV after we sacked Dylan Raiola to beat Nebraska in 2024. I can't stand him, so it feels SO good to beat him again and I'm bringing this baby back out! 😁

It feels like if you look up "Illini under Bret Bielema" this is the first search result.

Also I kind of like the Clayton/Boyd combo? I think Lunney is going to have some fun with those guys.
Huh?

Bret is 15-19 as the underdog at Illinois. But he's also 20-6 as the favorite. He's a had a few stinkers, but for the most part, when we're favored, we win.

1. Illinois defense is improving.
2. Illinois had a fantastic run game.
3. Oregon's offense stinks.
4. Too much green in the stands today. Some ticket holders must have had a big payday scalping tickets.
5. Cold weather bowl game is still on the table.

Definitely leans much more towards the "win when we were expected to lose" category. I mean, the two bowl wins are the crown jewel in that regard. But there were also "should be" wins (my mind immediately goes to PB putting the Rutgers game away) that were VERY CLOSE to being losses.

I wouldn't trade Bielema for anyone, but it feels like it's always a surprise with him. Mostly positive, no doubt.
