Was at a bar in Ottawa today in a mini-Illini reunion for the game. Will be a special memory for many years.

Was worried in the beginning with our goal-line lost fumble (correct or not) followed shortly thereafter by their fumble which flew directly into another SC player’s hands. Said to myself ‘oh no it’s going to be one of those games’, but the boys proved me wrong.

Hoping I can catch a replay somewhere to really absorb this better than I could in the bar.

I L L and HNY everyone!

It's an amazing feeling to ask, at the end of the season, which of the ten wins was your favorite.

Hard to believe that a rare win over Michigan in the 100-year game would be number 2, but this was my favorite. National TV, beating a red hot SEC team as a ten point dog in exciting fashion, Bret absolutely clowning Beamer and backing it up….this is the most nationally relevant we’ve felt in a long time.

We were 0-6 lifetime vs the SEC in any game. Now we are 1-6. I'm surprised we have only played an SEC team 7 times.
We've historically been a team with a lot more business playing the Bowling Green States of the world rather than Mississippi States. Let alone the Bamas.

1. This - Bielema made it spicy as hell.

2. Purdue - being there and watching it all fall apart then … not … was when I was like “we made it.”

3. Michigan - saw it with my grandpa. Awesome game.

4. Kansas - that was crazy and fun.

5. Rutgers - man what a finish

6. Northwestern - F them cats

7. Michigan State - good one to end the home stand on.

8. Nebraska - was annoyed listening to Raiola circle jerk whole time.

9. EIU - I did undergrad at EIU so was fun to see some friends and professors even though my JD, and my heart, are with Illinois.

10. CMU - helmets were nice, everything else about that game was uncomfortable.

Like most, I'd have to say Michigan. That game just had it's own special vibe. The history and the unis really made it something special.

This one was a close second. It seemed like an "Us Against The World" scenario, and we triumphed. Really intense energy.

Here's a fun fact: Bret Bielema coached his 50th game for Illinois today. The Illini have been within one score (or outright won) in the 4th quarter in 43 of those 50 games. That's how close and exciting nearly every game has been (even the losses) since his arrival.

The year before he arrived, we only played 9 games, and we were never within one score in the 4th in five of them.

I'm very glad we have Bret.

So, I watched the highlights and I think I understand what happened between Bret and Beamer. When our player went down (Juice Clark?), I didn't get a clear view but it looks like one of the South Carolina coaches runs in and pats his leg. At first, I thought it was actually good sportsmanship - like, "good hit son". But I wonder if that pat was a "get the f... off the field faker" rather than sportsmanship. Was it that that fired Bret up? The video isn't great, but it looks like it is Beamer himself patting Clark on the leg.

BB says it was t-bar fake that set him off but honestly there was a ton of stuff.

Can’t thank the Illinois program and the B1G schools that've won bowl games enough for giving me one year to talk crap to my SEC friends and colleagues. I’m already saying we would’ve pounded Bama after seeing them lose to a Michigan team we pounded. Lol amazing feeling.

Beamer's press conference is a must see. What a whiner. Unbelievable no one questioned his not taking 2 field goals and instead getting 0 points when they would have gotten 6 points. As they lost by just 4 points, the 2 field goals would have made the Illini have to kick a field goal at the end to win instead of just running out the clock. Huge and arrogant mistake by USC.

I graduated in 2005. I was much more spoiled with sports success than your class…but can’t say enough how much I appreciate people like you who were loyal fans during the lean years and sticking with us. That fandom helped us unleash a sleeping giant and now we’re reaping the rewards.
'79 for me so I got to cheer for the entire Henson run, which was great.
FB was pretty rough for much of that, though.
