Illinois 24, Charlotte 14 Postgame

The last sentence or two from BB's presser that don't wait for something , go get it , has been my approach in life.....

I enjoyed the 2 ( ? ) 4th downs that we went for it , but I still don't understand why today and don't do it with 2 games there for the taking.....Maybe BB realized that he messed up against the terps and purdont but can't bring himself to admit publicly that he lacked intestinal fortitude in those games..

Anyway , we got a big win in spite of our QB ineptness and Chase Brown is the missing link that if we had had him in terp and purdont games then a different outcome could have been had....

The Defense of the Illini played their best of the year in the second half today....Dominant against a above average opposing QB in the second half........A welcome relief from last year and giving up 600 + yards to anybody with a plan for the dreaded cover 2.....

Next up for me is watching my Cardinals win another game tonight on their way to the world series....

Neighbor lady said " Hi " to all here...............I will see her again @ 11 pm tonite....

Life is good ....it really really is.....

Maybe BB didn't trust the Offense against the Maryland or the Purdue Defenses, but DID trust the offense against the Charlotte defense ? ? IDK...

We haven't won a football championship in 70 years. We've had 2 consensus all americans in the last 25 years. We have only gone to 19 bowls in the past 72 years and we are 8-11 in them. We've won the Big Ten 4 times in 57 years. If football frames the success of our college sports program, we are horrendous.

And we've had 15 head coaches since 1959, so our hiring and firing process is horrendous as well....

The last Rose Bowl championship was 1964.

I don’t dispute the point you’re making, but with respect to the 70 year period, remember that the Big Ten Conference did not let members go to bowls other than the Rose, until about 1975. I think this may make many of the teams’ histories seem light on bowl appearances.

Be accurate. B1G teams were only allowed to go to the Rose Bowl for quite a few of your 70 years.

My apologies. We have gone to 16 bowls in the last 45 years and we are 5-11 in them.

Just randomly watched the highlights and gotta make sure we shout out Carney for those back to back sacks to almost single handely give us the game. That second one was an absolute beauty that needs to be on Illinois highlight reals for years to come the way he just abused both blockers.
Totally agree. Huge, huge plays. He wanted it, and got it…twice!

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. — The boo birds came out at halftime as Illinois headed into the locker room trailing Charlotte at home Saturday.
Chase Brown gave the Illini faithful something to cheer for after the break, scoring two touchdowns and finishing with 26 carries for 257 rushing yards — the fourth-most in a single game in program history — to lift Illinois to a 24-14 victory.
One of the players Brown passed on the all-time list is Illini legend Red Grange. The college and NFL Hall of Famer has a statue outside of Memorial Stadium that Brown walks past every game day.
“When I first came to Illinois, I knew I wanted to be part of those big name guys that played here before me,” Brown said. “The fact that I was able to come out (Saturday) and put on the performance that I did, I’m grateful. I feel really blessed.”

I guessed Illinois to win 26-13. I am very happy to see the defense step up in the second half, and saw a nice running game.

Let's hope they get the passing game sorted out.
