Illinois 24, Virginia 3 Postgame

Oh, also, I should say the game experience was better too. I’ve been a critic of how stale everything feels at and around memorial stadium before and during games. I can tell they’re definitely trying to improve that. Kudos to Josh Whitman for recognizing and fixing these issues.

Still work to be done, but some of that involves the product on the field. I’m glad he’s working on stuff that can be improved whether we go 12-0 or 0-12.

It's a strange feeling beating a Power 5 opponent by 3 TD's and still being somewhat disappointed.
Also Witherspoon gives 110% every snap but needs to tone his talking down a bit. Every time he makes a play, I am keeping one eye on the ref seeing if he is going to get flagged. It's the same feeling I always had with Daniel Barker.
The other issue that needs fixing is the attendance. It's embarrassing when the game intro shows the crowd and it is 2/3 empty. Other than continued winning, does anyone have any good ideas? Maybe go to every grade school and high school in a 1 hour radius of Champaign and offer free or heavily reduced tickets? Maybe charter busses from Chicago for fans? I'm no marketing expert but I know some major changes need to happen.

Glad we won. Eliminate the poor play in the RedZone, poor kicking and turnovers. D looked solid today. Still annoyed that we lost last week in a game we should've won by 10 but we are getting better. The team is moving in the right direction now the ticket office needs to come up with some ways to get butts in the seats.

defense is awesome

offense is still just average
Defense is awesome, the offense is behind on a talent stand point and 3 games in a new system. They are in great spots, just have to clean up some timing and definitely ball security. Our offensive lineman now and future look like big time lineman, everything still starts there.

Student tickets should be free until we are a bonafide top half B10 team, no question.

As for the game, we are seeing glimpses of competence, but still habits of a bad, bad program. But it is definitely changing, and that is great. TO's, mental mistakes, yapping after every play, red zone inefficiency have to get corrected. But with our D, this team is must watch and for that I'm ecstatic.

Tickets for the Iowa game are $75. The team has to be real good for people to shell out that kind of money.

No ticket to any Illini game is ever what the market price is. The tickets where I sit are “$60” a ticket for big ten games. I paid less than $100 for season tickets.

They always run deals for their tickets.

BUT, your point is still valid. Why even market it that way? Illinois is not in a position to try and maximize profit via their football program right now. They gotta get fans in regardless of on field product.
