Lol, the B1G in bowl games is getting to be a little like Sherman ripping through the confederacy.

When I played football in high school, I was the holder. I always focus on the snap and hold when I watch placekicking. As soon as I saw the snap was perfect and wasn’t muffed, I knew the game was over. I was infinitely more worried about the snap and hold than I ever was about Olano’s kick.

I was just as much worried about the kick being blocked.

Since it was a short field goal, I wasn’t overly worried about that. If it was a 40 yard field goal or longer where Olano would have needed to drive it instead of chip it, I would have been a lot more worried.

If we only win 6 or 7 games next season, enjoy every one of them. Illinois is now in a place where regression to 3-9 or 4-8 types of seasons seems pretty unlikely. But we are still not to the point where we can take 6/7 win seasons for granted, IMO. And we may win 9 or 10 again, who knows.

Thanks, Coach B, for rebuilding our foundation.

Good call, either he didn't play or was not noticeable.
He played just one play. I believe he’s out of eligibility, but could apply for a medical redshirt waiver and get one more year. I know he and Luke were best friends too, so wirh Luke graduating, could be a kid on transfer watch.

The South Carolina fans were extremely delusional, assuming their one-year ascension to the mid-upper tier of the SEC put them in blue blood territory. The Tennessee fans I’ve seen, at least outside of their game thread (which we know is always a 💩 show on any board) have been respectful and reasonable. They’ve been upper tier before and they recognize when their otherwise good team falls a bit below their norm.
The little I read on their board certainly showed that some were reasonable/realistic.

There was one thing I’m not sure has been mentioned but several times Tennessee players went out of their way to slam our guys down hard rather than just tackle them. Isn’t that a foul?

I just watched portions of the game again. That linebacker for Tennessee (No. 13) was really annoying with his dirty/bullying attempts to intimidate the Illini throughout the game. It was therefore especially sweet to watch him creep up to the line of scrimmage for the crucial 4th down play with 2:23 left in the game, charge hard toward the A gap when the ball was snapped, and then get blasted in that same direction by Melvin Priestly, which allowed Jordan Anderson to slip to the right of Priestly and run for 13 yards and the first down.

13 was especially annoying and glad MP blasted him.
