I knew this was going to be close. Toledo’s QB is experienced and they have a lot of P5 transfers. Guessing that’s a 10 win team we just played.

It was close for reasons I wouldn’t have guessed. I would have thought that their QB keeping plays alive and our inexperienced secondary would have led to some big plays on busted coverages. I did not expect to get both our Oline and Dlines to get pushed around. But I think both lines will gel and find their groove. There were flashes tonight.

But Luke was far and away the bright spot. I didn’t watch much of the Purdue game, but other than Card, I saw Minnesota, Nebraska, Wisconsin and Iowa play and there is not another QB in the west I would trade for him. Most poised. Quickest release. Best timing/accuracy/poise. And at a minimum fast enough to keep defenses honest.

Too many dumb penalties but those can be fixed. I like our ceiling!

Those penalties really killed us. We would’ve won by 2 or 3 TD’s if we had less penalties.

I’m glad you came back. I’ll be honest, I didn’t put any stock into anything you said in the pregame thread… but damn… that QB did everything you said he would do; positively and negatively.

There’s a huge difference between talking !!!! on a forum and what he’s describing. I’ve had season tickets in the 110 part of section 111 for 17 years. It’s been bad for years. We don’t represent ourselves well. Or rather, our drunkards don’t.

Anyone upset over how close it was probably doesn't know that Toledo has not had a losing season since 2009. In that stretch, Illinois has gone to 5 bowl games. Toledo - 10.

Your team played great- was the better team much of the night. Don't let a few drunk idiots get in your head on what I'm sure is already some frustration based on the ending of the game. Best wishes the rest of the season, hope you had a good time in Champaign otherwise, and thanks for joining us on the board.

There is a lot of decent G5s (Wyoming is up on Texas Tech as I type). I still baffled why TV execs and their media fanbuys/girls want a P2 system so badly... Just make the CFB playoff a 12 to 16 teams of the Hoops tourney.
