As for the defense……a lot of missed tackles that you just can’t have. Bad Angles in coverage and in pursuit after the pass. I know the kids aren’t taught that stuff. They have to take some pride in what they do! As for Henry whenever the opposing QB is a running threat we mix in more zone than usual so guys can keep eyes on the QB sucks because we can’t consistently get pressure with the front 4/5 and then when we did we lost gap integrity and let him run anyway. We have to find a way to get some more pressure and stay disciplined in our rush lanes. Not having X is a killer in the slot too.

We are hiding a First Team All B10 db on the injury report as well as many others! Get real! It's like our race cars in the shop and we are doing our best with our pave car! Have reasonable expectations. We won by double digits on the road!
Stop making excuses . We’ve given up over 125 points in the last 3 games. I realize we lost a stud. But lack of organization is still the issue on defense .

Without our experienced secondary they did thier best! It's not an excuse. Its a fact.. It's about the damn scoreboard and the final score. When you are up 19pts with 18 or so minutes left you bend don't break. Especailly with half your starting DBs hurt or out. Its not an excuse. Its a fact we won the last 9 of our last 10 games! The last 3 we have been without most of our starting DBs! It does impact and it does change how we defend and call our defenses. You missed your calling. Apply to replace Henry and Brett. If you don't think that impacts the game and expectations and schemes don't change you are wrong.

Doesn’t it feel a bit like the front 4 is underwhelming given the talent we thought we had there this year. Really seems like they have been totally unable to pressure the QB in any real meaningful way this season.

Is that recruiting misses, coaching, both? I’ll hang up and listen.

They are solid up front….the secondary is not good though.
for sure and I know our identity is ball control and pound the rock but I would have loved to see a shift to more passing plays until they showed they could stop it. ultimately didn't matter as it was a "W" but there were some drives I was scratching my head (2 runs up the middle and then 3rd and long...) as to why we weren't passing more given the success we had.

If “40 points” was on this screen grab, I hope you would have circled it. Sometimes the game dictates patterns that run counter to what is typical.
was an excellent result and 40 pts is notable for an Illini team. just seemed we could have racked up another 200yds passing offense relatively easy compared to doubling down on a (largely) ineffective run game.

its a nitpicking comment. great win, hopefully the series momentum stays on our side for the next decade

We are still down our X factor in X Scott and he is a huge part of our D. But we are forcing turnovers. ND gave up 30 to Purdue and Purdue is getting better. Our coaching isn't the issue. We need to develop and recruit more players. We lost a lot of DBs to the NFL and we need to keep adding more to replace em.
No. Lmao Just no....

Wish he could have gotten one more throw to hit 400. Turn some heads nationally.
I mean when your qb is 19 of 22 throughout the game and only time he was sacked was when he was in completely ridiculous obvious 3rd in longs because our passive let's run the ball even if we keep loosing yards or barely breaking even was a choice by lunney. 1st half play calling was great have very little to argue you with about but the 2nd half may very well be the 3rd or 4th worst playing calling of since Oregon, Penn state and Indiana games seriously has to improve by next week otherwise its going to be horrendous results like the games previously mentioned
