Talent yes...but deficiencies, too. Curbelo the only guy who can penetrate the lane and put pressure on a defense. If you watch these other games...multiple players attacking the rim. Otherwise it's a 3 point shooting contest...and when they're not falling it's gonna be ugly. We do work our tails off on defense, though.
TF drives and gets double-teamed on his drives every game. So, I disagree that only AC can do it.

I missed much of the second half. (Needed pizza for comfort food the way things were going.)

Did Chattanooga really ease up on the fouling in the 2nd half or did the refs seem reluctant to make foul trouble be decisive in the outcome?
I think they changed their approach to be honest. Thought it was pretty well officiated.

No, a win AIN'T a win. This was pathetic. It's March, and this team has real talent, size and ability that scares everybody else in college basketball. Our team - staff and players -- gotta put it together, now. But you're right in that this win does allow another day.
Pathetic yes. Win yes.

I wonder if the different basketball was part of the reason for poor shooting…

Thanks god for Belo and Hawkins. They looked like the vets tonight, not our seniors. (except Monte on defense)

Keeping a small rotation of guys who just haven't been hitting shots seems like a weird strategy to me.

Because they literally take the other teams lunch money.

The timeouts in the tourney are extended so rest isn't as much of an issue. They played unreal defense in several stretches in this game. It's the ONLY reason we won.

You just have no way of knowing how the freshmen are going to defend in their first tourney experience against older very experienced guards.

Please let’s start curbelo. Love Trent but he’s gassed and his eye looks jacked up
Doesn't really matter whether Curbelo starts. He comes in quick and stays in for most of the game at this point.

I also love Trent (tremendous defense today, no doubt) but he has looked so beat up with middling-to-poor shooting for several months. The camera zoomed in on Trent today before the game and my first thought was that he looked like he just stepped out of the hospital, lol.

We really need Trent to go on a heater or Damonte to have one of those 3 for 5 games from three on Sunday. It's so tough when Damonte and Trent are both not scoring. If I woke up this morning and got a preview of Illinois' box score in advance, I would have bet my life savings that Chattanooga would win.

All that said... we won!!!!! Hope we got some nerves out and come back shooting better this weekend.
