I think many would agree that we have not consistently played to our potential (or even reached our potential) this season. We have faced a lot of challenges that have impacted our development of team chemistry and cohesiveness. I think many would also agree that, should we begin playing to our potential, we can make a deep run. Welcome to the frustration and exhilaration that is Illinois basketball.

Yet, I do believe we're "in the conversation." Hopefully this is proven wrong Sat/Sun!

Thank you. And add Michigan, Kentucky,Alabama, and Memphis off the top of my head.

This team has three players that were (barely) top 50 out of HS. We’re not even close as far as raw talent to many of the teams listed.

Tennesse, Villanova, Auburn, Baylor, and Houston (we'll see Sunday) are questionable.

I believe it's somewhat more complex. While following the team this year has created adaptive cardiovascular effects in all of us that have undoubtedly strengthened our myocardium, this beneficial effect has been more than offset by the increasingly cirrhotic state of our livers over the course of the winter.

I am not a smoker, but I needed a cigarette after this one. Great win boys! Time to smoke the next team!

The “healthiest we’ve been all year” is clearly a blatant misdirection.
Trent is half blind and beat to hell (but still played great D)
Grandison isn’t close to right
And did you guys see Curbelo plug his ear before the ref blew the whistle next to him on the inbounds?

Hopefully Jake and Trent are in better shape on Sunday.

Trust is earned, not given. It's clear our freshmen haven't earned enough trust to regularly play in high leverage situations. I don't know the reasons, but I assume the staff have access to much more information about our players and their abilities and performance, so it would be silly to think I am better positioned to evaluate them.

I see a lot of praise for Hawkins, but man did he have a really bad stretch there where he lost the ball (granted in a tough pass) then swiped at the ball for an easy giveaway foul.

With all that said, shooting 17.6% from 3 did us in. To do that and win is good. Hopefully the bad shooting night is behind us.

So I guess you never second guess any of the staff's decisions? My point is still the same, why would you come to play at Illinois if you don't even get a chance to see the floor in important games. I suppose you are going to tell me that every player on the opposing team tonight is better prepared than Melendez and Goode? I'm not buying that, and if they are we must be lacking in recruiting if we can't out recruit them. Also, according to half of the people on this board they weren't sure and some of them still aren't sure that we should play Curbelo and Hawkins. Maybe we should just play the seniors (like all the other teams in this tournament do/s) and they will show us the way.

He sure did change it. 6 turnovers and 1-7 shooting
He also started several fires in getting us unstuck from scoring anything from anywhere. I get he is feast or famine a lot, but he is the one that got us close by some quicksilver moves that produced points when we needed them most. Yes, he does boneheaded wtf, but, he kept us in the game so Hawkins could keep up the cray, so we could ultimately replay the Kevin Harlan call a whole lotta times . I fugging love this team despite wanting to question every move they make. I live in Houston and know about Phi Slama Jama and history...and, since Ive been here and Case Keenum sorta making it in the NFL Im not torn at all about wanting Illinois to win, wasnt Kelvin Sampson a dick at some point? Go Illini and just unleash all your everyday guy things on the vibrations of the remaining games.

The wife and I are having a lovely time in London, England. We found a pub that stayed open until 1 am last night.
My far, far better half supports my passion for the beloved during game time, while in return, I happily go to all the gardens, museums, and the like, by day.
Following the boys last night from “The Rose” in London, via Twitter feeds and live game play by play on-line, we had one hell of a night. Though I’m not sure the locals at the pub fully yet understand why the hell the American kept yelling “I L L” and
“I N I” in the pub at closing time, they did understand what it means for a crazy American to buy last call for the bar.
$230 pounds later I’m hoping like heck to have a repeat performance tomorrow.
I L L….
