Illinois 59, Northwestern 56 Postgame

Loving all the people being critical of Brad’s rotations like we aren’t in first place in the conference half way through the Big Ten schedule. Give me a break. We’re winning!
Not being critical of his rotations! Only when it needs to be adjusted to what is happening on the floor will I comment on that! We be even further in first place with a few adjustments here or there, like putting height in the game when we needed it! Just pointing out the stellar play of our Damonte Williams despite him being the last offensive threat on the floor at the time. He used it to his advantage this time and that's because his IQ! I'm glad he on our team! He helped change the culture! I-L-L

Yeah!! That's it!! Bring your silly DMFW shade and wrap it in fake "but I like Da'Monte" bs! He effectively won this game with his play on OFFENSE and defense in the last two minutes. There's no "but's" about it.

Do you think they run a single offensive set for DMFW? Even one play with DMFW as the option on offense? When this team is whole.....they have so many legitimate offensive options it is ridiculous. Inside, outside, pick and roll, two man game. DMFW's job isn't to score 10 per game. DMFW's job is to do everything. Literally. Against guys 6" taller than him. And he does that FlexNSeal sh#t better than anyone we've seen in a long time.

So take your bs DMFW shade down the road. I don't care how hard you try and wrap it in "but I like him" and "the young man is a fighter" coded bs.

It's garbage takes. Period. Full stop.
It's not garbage when it's based on facts! You take your garbage antics on down the road with your fake, nobody can do no wrong, and has no weaknesses to their game BS on somewhere! You're not the only Illinois fan, nor the only opinion on this message board! It's called constructive criticism dude! His job is to score and play defense! That's literally how you play the game! You don't get to decide who likes who, and how! I am a fan of all these young men! Before his injury in high school he was a scorer! He's never been the same with the burst he had! I said he needs to be more aggressive again if you read the entire post! I know they are developing their games and he's made s huge impact since he's gotten his opportunity! But he's still a liability offensively! Doesn't change that at all because he makes plays defensively! We need his offense! When he scores and brings his offense this team can beat anybody! Go back and look at the games when he scores and look what it does for the team! Not saying he's the problem of this team! I just spoke of him because he's a starter! It is what it is dude!

We won the game. We played through hardships this year to be in first place in the best conference in NCAAM basketball. Freshman all showing signs of developing not only their game, but the tenacious mindset of the older leaders. Things are great in Orange and Blue land, so let's enjoy it and beat the stinking
badgers.

Certainly couldn't tell that from what the TV cameras showed. They were obsessed with those goofy, nerdy NW fans.
At first I thought it was about 60-40 … but then I realized a lot of the purple I was seeing was empty seats, a lot of Illini fans were in blue and weren’t as easily identifiable and the upper decks were nearly 100% Illini fans. We sat behind the basket, and I didn’t see an NU fan all game. Line for concessions/restrooms was ALL Illini. Other than the student section/band and small pockets of premium seats near mid court, it was entirely Illini fans.

I’ll give their student section props, though - they were active and really loud! However, DaMonte’s putback was still the loudest moment of the game.

I used to complain to the refs more than I should when I was coaching my kids teams. Then there were a few games the refs couldn't make it for various reasons so I got to do the job. Yep, it's harder than it looks. Everyone knew I was the coach and volunteered to ref so we could play the game and I had people bitching at me the whole time. I walked over and offered the whistle to one guy and he finally shut up.
With the increase of available jobs comes the lower quality of employee filing jobs. It is now something we will have to get used to or us late 60's have to go out and fill these jobs instead of enjoying retirement and good Illini games.

I’m a hater of changing any rules in college basketball. But I’m actually a real fan of the flop warnings. It has helped stopped a lot of the Paul Mulcahy type flop crap.
It's too subjective and I don't think it improves the game. The McCaffery three point flop when Kofi was assessed a foul in this year's game and other calls that make acting a valuable skill in basketball, like couch alluded to last in last years Rut loss.

Something that drives me crazy....and the Illini got the benefit of this call...can't remember without going back and looking at it again...but one of the Illini players was taking the ball to the basket....clearly got fouled going up for the shot...no whistle until the officials saw that the ball wasn't going in the hole...after the shot missed and both the Illini player shooting the ball and the defender were on the floor and the ball had been rebounded then the whistle blows....I mean a foul is a foul..don't wait to see if the ball goes in the hole or not.....I know the NBA officials do this all the time....listen to Stacy King...he hates it as well.....by not calling it a foul if the ball goes in the hole, is denying the offensive player a chance at a 3 pt play....just a really bad look for the officiating crew imo....rant complete
Amen! And Kofi has to absolutely lead the NCAA in being most abused by this. The second and third foulers are going to keep on fouling without the whistle. Kofi really should get some And-6 calls.

Off-topic here but kinda crazy Rodman made the HOF with only 2 All-Star appearances. He did make the All-Def team 8x and won DPOY 2x. Good on the HOF voters for recognizing defense.
Wish they were also the Naismith voters
