DD comments on the post game radio are great. He is very tuned in and bought in. We need to make sure we keep him. Smart post game commentary.
We held them to 53 total points. Defense wasn't the problem in general.I know the overreaction to the start and the poor FT shooting will get more play, but that is a good offensive team.....and we absolutely chained them up and swallowed the key the last 8-10 minutes.
Did they go 3-0 in their first 2 games?Last year's team started better than this.
I said it in the game thread, but I'm guessing Amani didn't play because Dain and Quincy were both having good games for us, and for large portions of this game we just could not put Dain on the bench, he was that good. If that's the case, I don't have much issue in Brad sticking with the 2 guys ahead of him on the depth chart in a close game where both are playing well. If Amani was a guard, I think he definitely would've gotten some tick today as Brad was desperately trying to get a spark from someone outside of Ty and TSJView attachment 28855

Whew...............I gotta catch my breath...............I really really do.........................
Ok , another game of a slow start , not moving or hitting our shots..............This is becoming a habit that we might need counseling on...............The old " I'm good enough , I'm smart enough and doggone it , the fans like me " ..............something has to change or it's gonna bite us in the gonads...........
Guerrier with a double double.........shut down Townsend the last 9-10 minutes of the game............
Cohawk was killing us in the first half and for a while in the second half , but finally started playing ball.....his pass to Guerrier for a layup was his highlight of the evening................
TSJ was a lockdown defender on the hyped up 3 pointer shooter from Oakland and held him to 2-3 baskets.............he did hit some timely 3's in the second half ............
Dain was a beast down low ......just wish he could hit a FT......I see he stopped the twirl behind the back technique.........
Domask had a up and down game.......hit a 3 when we needed it , but had a couple turnovers........
Goode was absent tonight.....nuff said..........
DGL was steady and had a good assist but it was a learning game for him.............
Ty always seems to score at the start of the game and at the start of the second half........but he controlled the ball good and had a late drive to the middle of the paint for 2.......
no Hansberry tonight .................I wonder why ??...............maybe his defense isn't ready yet to guard a spread offense like they run ??
Harmon was another no show tonight for what little tick he got..........................
Our depth and defense won this game for us tonight.........We closed out the game on , I believe . a 22 -5 run , with a 16-0 streak included........we wore them down and put the dagger in at the end....................
Waiting on BU's post game radio interview.................
we had 11 straight stops till the 3 at the buzzer...................
TSJ did outstanding on D................
we didn't make layups or FT's but D won it for us............
Dain and Quincy were strong when we needed them............
tough shooting night in the first half , but got going in the second half.........
TSJ with 5 assists...........
I didn't mess with the D the last 7-8 minutes.............
Ty was great tonight , with the basket in the paint was timely...........
timeout early was needed..............they are a good team and got the early lead..........
next game against Marquette # 5 in the country....we will find out how good we are..............

Did they go 3-0 in their first 2 games?
??? Last year's team won their first 3 games all by 30+, then beat UCLA on a neutral court. They shot 39% from three over those four games. Do you not remember that?Okay, now you've got to convince us that you're NOT trolling.
Congrats to Quincy. Being a dad is the best thing ever. Doing it well is hard as hell sometimes but damn does it just change everything and give you a unique chance to be a better human. Also, it can be crazy fun and rewarding!
OR....this looks like an undefeated season because we haven't lost yet.Two games in, this looks like a bubble team. No flow offensively and no shooting. Defense has been solid though.
Our defense was really good throughout. Ty really impressed me tonight and it looks like he has taken a huge leap on that end. TSJ was very very good tonight, and Dain and Quincy both showed up. Luke has had a very very slow start to the season, but if he can get back on track, we should have a very good defensive team. I still worry about how we'll matchup with a team with a speedy backcourt, but we'll cross that bridge when we get to it (in 4 days)We held them to 53 total points. Defense wasn't the problem in general.
As a parent of young kids, I cannot possibly imagine being able to play competitive basketball on 6 months of 4 hours of sleep per night with a newborn.
Speaking as a dad, if Brad’s goal is to “get old and stay old”, this is the way.
True DatPlease, PLEASE don’t read into a team good or bad 2 games into a season. January hits then conversation of where this team is will be fair game.
Kampe's postgame is incredible. One of the most insightful, intelligent, and well spoken postgame speeches from an opposing coach I've heard. It's clear Oakland has a really solid coach in him. Wish more coaches gave postgames like him.
