That’s one reason I get so annoyed by all the Andrej Stojakovic is a: prima donna, only out for himself and the biggest bag.

Mayer didn’t even try to run the offense?! I dont remember them getting called out for it by the board anything close to as much as AS.
He’s not half the He$$isn Mayer or Kaspar were. (Look how long of a leash they got too.) He’s more about “team” than either one of those guys. It’s obvious.

There is a nugget of truth there, but it's not that Houston just had back luck in not hitting shots (it was no more of an off night for them than us), it's that they settled for a lot of low-percentage looks, especially in the middle part of the game.
Both teams were constantly in the position of having their initial actions stymied by the opposing defense, and we just did a much, much better job of being patient and creative in those situations. That was the difference in the game.

This team always had this in them, just had to put it all together. Now need to not let IA be a trap game, stay focused, take care of business and go get a Natty!!!!!
A lot of people knee-jerk hate on analytics but this game was such a great example of using analytics to craft a winning game plan. Our goal was to make them settle for lower percentage looks inside the 3 point arc and we succeeded.
Our goal on offense was not to settle for those looks even when it meant having to reset multiple times in one possession. And to a degree that surprised me, we eventually ended up with good looks most of the time, even when they didn't go in.
It was a great sign when Cenac kept taking those mid-range baseline twos. Even if he's typically a better shooter than that, you keep letting him have those. If you're getting layups and good looks at 3 and they're shooting mid-range jumpers, you're going to win 9/10.

I’ll reluctantly accept one more year . if his personality is what it appears to be & things continue to gel on the court , he could make a ton of real NIL money in the metro Chicago market . maybe even enough to get him for a third year .
he is so likable (as is Wagler also) , that if an agent can monetize it, big $$ awaits him .

I honestly have no idea when the NBA is going to come calling though. I'm honestly surprised he's not on draft boards now. It's gotta be the foot speed, right? I'm not sure that's going to get better. Or it could just be he needs to get away from this year's loaded draft class and he'll be a surefire lottery pick next year.

I happened to watch the full recap and it got a little testy in the last couple minutes when Chris wouldn’t admit that Houston wasn’t a championship caliber farm
Let's not underestimate Iowa and gut out a tough game for the W. (fify) Iowa is playing much better now than they were in January. This is a trap game that will require the Illini's best effort.
