I can assure you Brad did not….and I can assure you he thinks they are the worst crew in the league
Yeah, I'm in agreement with Brad. Game in and game out Courtney Green may just be the most inconsistent and completely overmatched ref in the B10 and Larry S is a walking clown show. While I understand the overall positive thoughts about the refs coming out of this game as 1. We won and 2. They swallowed their whistle for both teams rather than calling touch shadow foul nonsense every 30 seconds and ignoring hard fouls like Courtney and Larry have made to be their trademark, they still showed the same tunnel vision and anticipation that makes them miss obvious plays and they still showed an unawareness of the rules of play.

The biggest thing is that when either of those two step on the court, you have no idea what will and won't be called, what will or will not be a foul, and who will be given possession when the ball goes out of bounds, at any point in the game. And that's why they're two of the worst in my book, because no matter what team you're coaching for, playing on, or cheering for it's a beyond frustrating experience.

If Epps, Rodgers and Harris are all 4-year players at ILLINOIS, then the future is very bright. All the COVID eligible 20th-year seniors nationwide will be gone by then. That would make for a very excellent Senior core one day.

wish that we could move beyond the issue of officiating whether good or bad...
We have as a team, Underwood doesn't allow it. The players play with a rare reaction.

It's us crazy fans that do the complaining (me included - there's a couple refs that I hate to see - lit'l mex & Learch for me)

My daughter has a dance competition so I followed along via the game thread (I know you all are jealous). There was a break as the game ended so I got in my car to listen to the post game and go get something outside of dance competition concessions, and I think I get why people get so frustrated with Hawkins.

The game thread is always over the edge in both praise and criticism. Listening to Hawkins in the immediate after the game interview, he’s so damn articulate, talks like he has a very advanced understanding of the game, and seems REALLY likeable. So I think everyone just get really WTF when he makes boneheaded plans.

It’s obvious he cares. You wouldn’t get as frustrated on the court if you didn’t.

I can’t wait to watch the recording of the game when he supposedly just quit playing defense so complain to the ref. I may come back to the post and delete it all if he actually did what everyone claimed he did. 🤣

You won’t be disappointed. Coleman was a beast on both ends.

If anyone chose complaining over defense once or twice, it was TJ. He also got beat a couple of times, oddly by virtue of falling down. 🤷‍♂️ But he had his star moments, too, including some awesome shot blocks…

Overall, a fun game with a great second half from the home team!

Don’t forget Dain has at least 2 if not 3 too right? Dain along with Epps are gonna be all B10 guys down the road
Let’s take another step and mix into that group Zacharie (supposedly starting to impress in practice), Amani (then Morez)… and possibly a strategic portal point guard and/or 3-pt sniper.

I said before the season started that Rodgers "kind of reminded me", from what little I saw of him of Nick Anderson at this stage of their respective careers. I still stand by that.
Oh no…Nick was so much more of a player. Rogers will never get to Nick shooting wise. I think a better comparison may be be Battle if he he continues to progress through out his Illini career. I’m still not sure he gets to a KB a level.

Ty Roders today performance was octopus like. The man was grabbing defensive rebounds with 8 arms! Wow he reminds me of Draymond and the kid ffrom Ohio st. 6.5 240lbs. I'll take his trajectory all day every day.

Just finished the game on Tivo delay. Excellent win, and the 19-0 run didn't hurt. Keeps us as a really solid 5-6 seed in the Big Dance for the time being.

ILL !!!!!!!

(And good luck to the maintenance crew in getting State Farm ready for tomorrow's Super Bowl!!!!!!)

I can't remember if it was Marcus Griffin or Deon Thomas (it was one of the two), but on one of the podcasts recently, one of them said, without out a doubt, the officiating during the B1G season absolutely hurts the teams during the NCAA tournament. He says the type of officiating like we saw today -- where there are few whistles and any contact is simply "play on" -- makes it difficult for B1G teams to adjust when it's called much closer in the tournament. He said the good teams are able to adjust as the tourney moves along and they advance, but you often see early exits by B1G teams because they didn't adjust soon enough.
