Impressed how the team played today under such adversity. We are a totally different team when JCL makes a couple shots
Said another way, when we aren't completely outplayed at the PG and SG positions... It really is unfortunate that JCL and TJL had the injuries that they had. Who knows how our season looks if they both were playing at a high level this year.

I was streaming on my phone and I was being dropped repeatedly, and would have to reset and I'd get a 15 second ad and the game was going on and we were ahead and Jok gets a three and a text comes in and blocks the audio then another text and I don't which glasses you get and Hill misses a free throw and we're up by two with a second left and he makes the second and we win and the phone drops the connection but who cares!

It's too bad, if we had just taken care of Penn State like we were supposed to there'd actually be some hope about making the tournanent. Still feels good to sweep the Hawkeyes.

The previous possession Hill missed the first & hit the second. He hit both shots in the last second. Good game, I kept thinking we'd find away to lose, but?? Yea, we won!!!!

I agree completely, as the game was going on I was thinking our guard play has been so poor, I was glad to see JCL finally make a couple and Lucas is going to be a good one

I was getting interrupted so much I lost track figuring I'd be dropped again. But yeah, good enough for the win. 🔶🏀🔷

Yes when JCL is off, which has been frequently this year we don't play very well on offense. He opens things up when he hits a few shots.

Really excited to see Lucas at the point the next three years

How about that move and dunk by black in the 1st half. I haven't seen a move like that all year from Illinois.

Yes - very nice and aggressive move - something we've been missing. And we had a few blocked shots today. TJL's block of Bohannon was epic considering Bohannon was constantly pushing TJL off with his free arm. TJL was frustrating him some and he resorted to what should have been more than a few Offensive fouls.

Way to go, Illini!!! Going [at least] 2-0 against Iowa is always a good thing!

Solid game again by Finke. He shot 5/8 for 12 points and led the team in assists with 5. Good to see from him.

God it was great sitting on the end of my Isle, just giving hawk fan after hawk fan a big smile as they walked out with 30 seconds left in the game.

Really enjoyed seeing a win. Last two road wins we actually pulled away at the end to win, very encouraging

Well, hey, look at that! I go for a long hike in the beautiful weather and come back to an Illinois win! And according to the box score, Malcolm finally had a good game - not just solid, but good.

When's the last time we had a game thread that was 5 pages or less? Yikes.

why was Groce fighting back tears?

These are emotional times for the coach and the players. They see what they are capable of today and at the same time the season has slipped away. I am sure it is draining. There is no question that coach has worked his tail off over the last five years. Just unfortunate that it hasn't worked out. Some terrible luck, unfortunate recruiting misses and some poor decision making.

why was Groce fighting back tears?

Because he's actually a good guy and knows hes probably done after this season. He cares for the guys and wants them to succeed... unfortunately there are some deficiencies at the head of the snake that he NEVER addressed with a competent assistant coach. Its sad beacause Groce is one of those coaches you can legitimately build a brand around if he just had the help. Oh well.... on to the next one :illinois:
