So it's possible Hutcherson might be out for the Arkansas State game but ready for the Marquette game.
I don't know that it was ugly win. It was an ugly game. There was just no flow... like ZERO flow. The ref's were abysmal. They'd call a ticky-tack for no reason other than a whistle hadn't been blown for 40 seconds. Then immediately after a horrible, unnecessary call someone would get mugged and no call. Nobody on that crew should be allowed to ref another game at AH. Those guys shouldn't be able to get a high school gig. On the bright side, the terrible officiating was pretty fairly distributed. That game was not fun to attend. That game was almost unwatchable. If it’s possible to call a 24 pt win an “ugly win,” that’s this game. A win is a win especially down 4 key players.
I pretty much guarantee that Underwood does not consider this to be a problem.Underwood's problem is regardless of whom he starts, about 20% of fans will think he is and idiot to not start another.
First game of the season usually is. With no point? Bet the house it will be.I don't know that it was ugly win. It was an ugly game. There was just no flow... like ZERO flow. The ref's were abysmal. He’s pissed everyone has decided for him that he’s leaving next yearJ Grand is incredibly underappreciated here.
Seriously. This game felt like giving it to Sergio in ‘99I think Plummer will be fine when he doesn’t have to PG.
I acknowledged the fact we were down 4 key players. Yes the score was a blowout. Yes they beat an inferior opponent as they should. But they committed 19 turnovers vs Jackson State. That’s a sluggish, if not ugly win. But a win is a win.Couldn’t disagree more, all due respect. The game was never in question, and we were down 3 starters and 1 key bench player, with two of those being our unquestioned floor generals.
The team showed what a power house program does to inferior opponents, and that’s win convincingly. The fact we did it under these conditions is something I think we are not fully appreciating.
Team is deep and future is bright. I-L-L…!
At this point, I just assume Hutch will never be healthy enough to play two games in a row. I hope I’m mistaken. So it's possible Hutcherson might be out for the Arkansas State game but ready for the Marquette game.
Tons of positives with this game despite the sometimes painful to watch play, but one thing this drove home is that I hope Belo is extremely good this year yet not quite 1st round draft pick good. Losing both him and Trent would put a lot of pressure on finding a good transfer PG, no matter how good Epps may end up being out of the gate.
Think Belo and Trent both could have played tonight if they REALLY needed them.Just listened to the BU presser and with regards to the injuries.....he sounded frustrated. Maybe I'm reading too much into his tone? It feels like a situation where they look ok, they are saying they're ok, he believed they were ready to go....then maybe the medical staff pulled a last second switch? He just seemed annoyed. Anyone else get that feeling?
Well I saw Belo bang his head against the floor, I immediately thought concussion. They take the concussion protocol very seriously now and it may be the case that neither Belo or Underwood have any control over when Belo will come back. The protocol trumps everything.Think Belo and Trent both could have played tonight if they REALLY needed them.
Technically, it's impossible to miss half our starters. Just sayin'.............Nice start despite missing half our starters. Hope we get our guards fully healthy quickly. One down, two more for the big man. Gonna be a fun season, I hope our guys are hungry after the quick exit from the dance last year.
I hear you, but we straight up didn’t have a PG…lol. We ran an offense that they practiced for 4 days because of it. I think it was a good showing all things considered.I acknowledged the fact we were down 4 key players. Yes the score was a blowout. Yes they beat an inferior opponent as they should. But they committed 19 turnovers vs Jackson State. That’s a sluggish, if not ugly win. But a win is a win.
Wholeheartedly believe the sky is the limit for this team when at full strength though and I’m eager to see this team when guys aren’t forced to play out of position like they did tonight.
This game actually solidified the 9-man rotation for me, with lots of offense coming off the bench:Completely settled the starting lineup in my mind. Belo, Trent, JaG, Hawk, and Kofi. Hutch going to have a hard time breaking into that lineup. In terms of the rotation, it got very muddied for me. BBV before Omar? Goode, RJ or DaMonte backing up the 4? Hutch playing some PG? Remembering that BBV was advertised as a shooter coming in. Different role in this game but backup 4? Giving DaMonte a lot of credit for filling a role not in his arsenal.
