I don't know if anyone else has noticed. But our defense of resurgence I believe is due to not allowing opposing point guards to Drive as much as they were. You have to believe it's TJL's ability to play quicker defense. I didn't think he would make that much of a difference but I think our current results tell the story.

Couple things I noticed about the defense were:

1) Mav hard hedging screens high and not playing back. He's recovering pretty well too. Someone else also said this.

2) I think the biggest thing I noticed yesterday was the amount of ball pressure immediately on the catch. Guys we're really moving on the flight of the ball. I think there were a lot a looks that would have been clean earlier in the year but the pressure on the catch just took any rhythm away.

What a great win for this team.

Clawing back never quitting as a team must be respected- Never letting outside thoughts to enter their game mission- Now that is a team.

I can only imagine what happens when this team beats Michigan State.

Just a question out of curiosity, looking forward to next year. How does TJL's quickness compare with Trent Frazier's quickness? Encouraging to think that we might have 2 really quick guards.

Word. This has been a huge change. The weak-side help and quick recovery. Not sure why they weren't doing this effectively earlier in the season. It's not like they magically became more athletic 2 weeks ago to achieve it.

Did Groce and his staff actually not teach this for 4 months (or whatever) and suddenly figured out how to play D? Did the players just not do what they were supposed to be doing? Was it some little flaw (over committing) that prevented them from being able to do it?

I think we're underestimating the Ladder in all this recent success.:)

I'm imagining the ladder being presented with the team MVP award at the annual players banquet and being brought up to the podium. Made me chuckle to myself. :thumb:

Yeah, same guy I'm joking (weakly) about, just misspelled the name. Probably not too many here old enough to remember Welcome Back Kotter, but when Carfino was at Iowa all I could think of was Epstein from that show. #geezer

I remember Juan Epstein and Carfino, who seemed like he was on that Iowa team for 6 years and burned us all the time. Dr. Tom's heyday.
