Hmmm…
Kansas v Illinois
Baylor v Purdue
Texas Tech v Wisconsin
Texas v Mich St
TCU v Ohio St
Kansas St v Rutgers
Okla St v Michigan
Oklahoma v Iowa
W Va v Indiana
Iowa St v NW

Could be a case of familiarity bias, but I know how I’d bet a week of washing dishes…

As a matter of fact, for a month of mowing lawns, I might go:
SEC > Big-12
and if I was feeling really lucky, a week of litter boxes on:
Pac-12 > Big-12
Definitely familiarity bias IMHO

Am I a bad fan if I don’t care how we do in the B1G tourney? I’d like to win conference (because I placed a bet when we were +700 to win it) but I’m not 100% certain going through the grinder of winning the B1G tourney is more beneficial than a little rest and preparation for teams we’ve not played before in advance of the real tourney. (duck and cover)
Big ten tourney definitely behind regular season title in importance for me. Both pale in comparison to the tournament.

But to the OP. If we play like this tonight we could easily be one of the not uncommon 3-14 upsets.

Need to get Frazier back on track He has really struggled last 2 games

Well after watching the Illini and then super bowl (however many it is)....I'm just sober enough to offer up my take on this afternoons win over NW.....Inconsistent....both teams, but Illinois more so in the 2nd half..... Inconsistent officiating mostly bad....how can 3 officials miss that many reach, hack, bumping...no calls....unless we become more consistent throughout the game and value the ball more than we did the 2nd half we are destine to repeat last years Loyola performance in the tourney....I know it's a win and we will take it .....but this inconsistency is keeping us from truly becoming elite....being consistent with all facets of the game is what should separates us from the rest of the teams in the league

I didn’t think we looked all that good in the first half when we built the lead. We looked even worse the second half. One game and we still found a way. Have to get ready for a battle at Rutgers, they ruined my parlay on Saturday so I’ll have extra juice. I don’t want to say we’ve hit a lull, because it has been a game and a half of lower level play. We alright.

Now that he's healthy, RJ has become a rotational player for us, on a team full of 4th and 5th year players. And he's in there at crunch time. He makes plays.
I know it's a lofty goal, but I stand by my prediction.
I'm not ready to proclaim that he has become a rotational player yet.

Double digit minutes the past 2 games; I hope that continues, but we'll see.

I get it. That was an ugly half of basketball. The number of turnovers was inexcusable. The decision-making was distressing. The shooting was ice cold. But you know what? We won.

Winning the conference title takes games like this, finding a way when nothing is working. It also takes games like the one we recently played against Indiana, where we had our largest margin of victory ever at their Assembly Hall. We have the best record in the conference over the past three years for a reason. We've got it done in all kinds of ways. Sometimes it's ugly. Sometimes it's pretty. They both count the same.

Also, fun fact: Last year, we beat NW at home 73-66 to go 11-3 in the conference. This year, we beat NW at home 73-66 to go 11-3 in the conference.

He was simply careless with the ball today! And to often is. Curbelo can best help us this year as a role player. Next year hopefully is different. We are a better team with Trent running the point this year.
He had a bad game. That's all. His game requires him to be in a rhythm with the other players on the floor. He doesn't have that, and might not the rest of the year. It's solely because of his injury/illness and time missed.

Ok is it just me or should Melendez get more playing time? 🤔

This is interesting because a couple of weeks ago there were quite a few posters saying you cant play freshmen if you want to win in these tight games even though its fairly obvious of the things they bring that we don't have.

I really feel for coach because this team is a Frankenstein's monster in sense because of all the mismatched parts and hes trying to squeeze everything he can out of it

Why didn't Goode or Podz play at all? Are they injured? Melendez was terrific; he's that taller wing we are lacking. He's very athletic, but I didn't know he could shoot treys and free throws like that. We may have set a record of some kind by having three Puerto Ricans on the court at the same time.

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. — Illinois needed a bounce-back game to regain its perch at the top of the Big Ten.
It let an 18-point lead dwindle to one, but in the end held on for a 73-66 win over in-state rival Northwestern to reclaim sole possession of first place in the conference Sunday.
“I’m glad we found a way when things weren’t great,” Brad Underwood said.
A 19-2 Northwestern run in the middle of the second half made things a little dicey for the Illini, but they went to Kofi Cockburn late and the junior big man took care of business with late buckets to put the game away alongside some clutch free throws by freshman RJ Melendez.

Cockburn finished with his 41st career double-double with 19 points and 15 rebounds, tying the program’s all-time record of 41 double-doubles with Skip Thoren.

“Late in the game, in the last eight minutes, he just was, ‘No, no, no. My ball,’ and carried us down the stretch,” Underwood said.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

We won the rebound battle 47-30
We had 14 second half turnovers
Kofi had 6 turnovers
AC had 4 turnovers
Kofi had the team’s only field goals in the final 10:38 with eight points in the last 5:26.
Melendez had 14 points, six rebounds, two steals and a block in 17 minutes. He was 3-for-4 from the field, and his length made an impact defensively.

The good , the bad , and the ugly........And we still won the game and sit in 1st place in the B1G with only 6 games left....

GO ILLINI !!!!!

At this point in the season, it's typical to play no more than 8-9 guys in any given game. (If you show well in practice, you'll get some tick.)
