This is nasty, I love it.

I have to admit, that was one of those games that I have no idea how we won - I can't think of anyone I would say played "well" for us, we couldn't guard a lick the whole first half and for stretches in the second, had a bunch of unforced turnovers, yet someone we pulled it out

And you know what, I couldn't care less - we gutted it out and we're Big Ten Champs!
Great teams find a way to win.. I used to think it was luck. This wasn't lucky. We are good. Go Illini!!

Start with Kofi, Curbelo (until the last 2 minutes, he looked clearly gassed) and Hawkins. Plummer and Frazier had very little offensive help,

It says a lot about this team that they won with a subpar offensive game against Iowa, a team that had been the #1 most efficient offense in the nation since January.

I mean…Kofi had 13 pts and 9 rebounds at halftime. Finished 21 and 14…hard to say nobody played well on that alone.

Its a team game, and people came through at various times. Curbelo had some timely (and spectacular) baskets despite some headscratching decisions. Plummer scored 15 despite missing some wide open looks and getting torched on defense. Hawkins played his heart out, man. He made a big time 3, had 11 rebounds, and played solid defense overall while playing 37 freaking minutes. RJ came in and provided good defense and a big 3 just 2 weeks after surgery. Trent had a bad shooting night, but was still the guy on defense and making sound decisions. Damonte made some 3s and scored the last point of the game.

Its a team game, and this is a damn team, man. They adapt and overcome and accept whatever role they need to do each game. So…lets give them some damn credit.

What a program defining win... So happy for Trent and Monte. No one deserves it more than this team. Coleman Hawkins battled his A** off tonight vs Murray. Played 37 minutes tonight. Surreal experience watching Trent scooping up that last rebound and racing down the court as the Krush rushed the floor. Love this team. Love this University. ILL!

Gotta believe there are a handful, if not all, of these highly rated recruits that experienced tonight’s BIG championship victory that will now have a heavy lean to the beloved!!!!!
No visit these kids will ever make to another school can come remotely close to the experience they had tonight.
What a magnificence win for an amazing team, that we will will benefit from for years to come.
In attendance tonight:
Ty Rodgers ('22), Morez Johnson ('24), James Brown ('24), Nojus Indrusaitis('24), Devin Royal ('23), Cooper Koch ('24), Ty Pence ('23), Caden Wilkins ('24), Spencer Elliott ('23), Kanon Catchings ('24)
I think Kanon Catchings is the son of Tauja Catchings who played for the illini women back in the late 90's early 2000's and is the sister of Tamika Catchings. If so he's got some good genes
