I thought the foul on Tracy to open the second half was awful. That happens all the time with half court inbounds plays. I never see that called. That set the tone for the second half right off the bat.
And we didn't. So there.
Have you been watching the past few games? Not really surprising. He'll earn his minutes by playing defense and taking care of the ball, not from fans that voice their opinions on who's the better player. That starts at practice.
I do want him to get more minutes though but it's hard to deny Tate as many minutes when he's running the offense pretty well and not turning it over. There's a popular opinion that Lucas' production offsets his defense and turnovers but I disagree. If we turn it over and give teams easy buckets, it makes it easy for the other team to set the tempo that they want and gives them confidence. Differences in opinion are understandable though, as I'm sure there are coaches that would give TJL much more freedom, but Groce doesn't have that luxury this season.
Looks like we might want to redshirt Kipper.
He can have the one TJL was going to wear?

Tracy needs to find his headband.
I think we have now won at least one game in every possible way this season, which is a good sign that we can avoid a big losing stretch. Today Tracy and Leron didn't contribute much. There have been games where Hill has carried us, and games where Hill was pretty quiet. Games where JCL can't make a bucket and games where Thorne/Morgan didn't give us anything inside. We can win in many different ways.
Great to see the winning continue. Not sure who or what has gotten Mav to rebound this well, but great game for him. Defense looked decent, but some of that was just bad shooting by them. Groce said Tracy told him he has never fouled out at any level. Refs need to let them play more. Lets crush the Twerps!
If Maverick was at least a par defender because he's an extremely efficient scorer. He really showed out. I think as a team they all deserve credit for responding when the going got tough. We've still gotta get better against then zone.
p.s. Elijah Thomas is on the court right now in a different orange and blue/purple playing for Clemson and he's drastically changed his body. He looks great actually.

Let's beat Maryland instead and let Mizzou worry about Lipscomb.
That was probably the worst officiated game I have ever watched...not just against the Illini, they were absolutely terrible. They made the game almost unwatchable.
Have to cut down on bad turnovers, not going to fly against real teams.
Love that Mav has gotten aggressive last few games. Totally different player.

Way to go Illini! Mav played extremely well. Hill bounced back, JCL was good, out rebounded another team. I think this team can and will win 10-11 games in conference and will make the tournament. We are sitting much better than I thought we would right after thanksgiving.
Good teams find ways to win in a variety of ways. Since the 3 game Thanksgiving week stretch, this team becomes more and more difficult for future opponents to scout as it has shown an ability to win in so many different ways.

I'm happy with the season rebound since the Winthrop and NYC debacle games thus far, but we were by far the dominant team tonight and still let them remain within 10 points (it should have been ~20). We need to continue working on a killer instinct mentality to put opponents away early. This was one of those games and we let them linger.
Nice to see Mav have one of his best games ever, hope he keeps it up because he has the ability.
