Biggest concern IMO is still Black picking up fouls. He had 4 fouls in 17 mins, took himself out of the game. We need Black to stay in critical games in the B1G, he has some skills that others do not have in the frontline.

One of his fouls in second half was a joke. The ref motioned he came down with his arms. Replay showed he clearly had his arms straight up in the air and standing his ground. There was also one callede on a rebound that looks questionable. Two of the three refs were really bad.

Are you referencing the one where he was in the circle but straight up? That is a foul by rule. A tough one, but any contact inside the circle is a defensive foul of the defender doesn't jump. I was angry at first too, until I saw the replay. Could be a different play, but I think this might be the one.

I don't know if he was in the circle, but the official signaled his arms came down and made contact. The replay clearly showed he didn't. It should have been a no call.

I forgot ask last time if the arms came down thing was maybe the ref motioning to the circle but no reason to be a dead horse. The good news is we survived some Leron foul trouble because our big man depth came up, well, big.

As the above posters have stated, the ESPN scoreboard showed an Illini deficit of 3-2 for a short period. It was corrected to reflect the actual score of 5-0, Illini.

I watched the game on espn3 after reading a bunch of the board and man that mizznoz team is better than a lot of you are letting on. they are probaly gonna beat a ranked team in the sec sometime this year. especially if south carolina is still ranked when they play.

They will never be a top 100 team b/c they dug themselves a hole. But Puryear is a good player. So is woods. And so is Hughes. Our guards held him to 3 points but Xaviers guards let him have 24!

That Geist kid took one shot against Xavier. He has come a long way. They must have been seriously overlooking Eastern the other night.

Their Texas transfer Barnett didnt show much but it was his first or 2nd game of the year and he looks like he could be good just his shot was off last night.

I hate mizznoz with a passion but they played pretty well and played hard the whole way through. That team will be good by the end of the year and next year will be really good.

But we will still beat them cuz were reloading boys.

They are very young. They are going to continue to grow and get better, but you can see the talent in spurts.

Football, I believe South Carolina is playing without arguably their best player in Sindarius Thornwell (Dozier isn't far off if not better). Their trio of guards are tough, and it helped alleviate the lose of the two foreign bigs from last year. Their front court plays D, rebounds, and takes good looks when they are there. No depth is their biggest weakness, but this is one of Frank Martins better squads since taking the job. I don't think they're a top 15 team, but anywhere from 20-40 is about right for them. Most likely a tournament team unless Thornwell does not return.

Thanks zoggle.

I couldn't think of any ranked sec teams off the top of my head except south carolina and kentucky. I agree with Illinois8507 that the Mizznoz team has talent and is very young.

So sad for them though cuz with our recruiting class we should be at 6 or 7 or 8 wins in a row in the Braggin' Rights game before they have another chance to win.

We really struggled to close out the game this year and that was with Mav having his best game ever. We lose both Abrams and Thorne next year so who is going to play defense? I know we are all high on this new group but Groce's staff better start teaching guys how to play defense at this level or it is way too soon to be crowning anyone.

I dont think they are as bad as a lot of people think they are, just super inconsistent. Their defense was arguably the second best we faced all year so far. But there offense... minus post play it may be the worst offense we've seen. Airballing wide open shots should never ever happen. I was disappointed in how we played. But give them credit for showing more energy and effort than we did. Finke, Black, and Abrams are the only guys that ever show more effort then needed on our team and it shows a lot. We need guys to play their hearts out.
