Not impossible by any means. We're currently just 1/2 game behind MICH. They definitely have to play some games in order to beat us....even if they do successfully manage to dodge us.

While I don't think there is a definitely set rule for how the B1G chooses a champ if teams play an unequal number of games, win-loss percentage seems to be the dominant choice. Michigan is 8-1, or .889. If we play all twenty games and win the rest, we will be 17-3, or .850. Michigan would still have a higher percentage.
And before anyone asks, I don't think Michigan will end up at 8-1, and I don't think Illinois will end up at 17-3; I offer the example solely for demonstrative purposes.

Man the way we are playing is there a game left on the schedule you see a losing? I could see us running the table.
easier said than done in this league though because you could play like we have been playing and then lose to Northwestern.
I don't see us playing twenty games. And while we clearly can beat anybody, we have also shown a disconcerting ability to lose to anybody. If the team that played Iowa, or Wisconsin, or the second half of Northwestern shows up, then yeah, we will win the rest, But what about the team that played Maryland or either of THE Ohio teams? I am not sure we really disagree about this.
I'm not sure why you would say percentage is the "dominant" choice. league standings on a daily basis has for my lifetime been determined by games over 500.

no disagreement although for now it seems like we have kicked the terrible starts to games. If we can continue that against northwestern then I think we can firmly say we have turned a corner in that regard.
and yea I agree that I don’t think we get to 20 games. I think we can win out in the games we do play

My overall point is that if we win out the league office will have a hard time not scheduling us with Michigan to settle all the debate that would follow if we don’t play them.
Definitely have an easier schedule on out than Michigan. I thought early on that the lack of fans would reduce the home game advantage and winner would only have three losses. Not convinced that I am wrong about that. Michigan looked great although it was against weaker schedule and really think the layoff will be a disadvantage. We just need to win out and hope they lose because I don’t see how we will make up all the games.
So, 14-6 & .700 is a better team than 8-1 & 889? That does not strike me as fair, either.
Normally, games over .500 and w/l percentages produce the same winner. But the one thing I am fairly sure we agree upon is that this is not a normal year.

Ah - the good ol' days! I would really love to push Wisconsin and Michigan State to the back half of the Big 10 standings for about a 20-25 year run.

Similar to how BP3 started his career at Illinois. After a very strong start against lesser competition (like AM) I remember lots of times he tried to go to the rim as a frosh and got rejected once B1G season hit. Hopefully AM can have a similar college career trajectory during his time here. I think we'd all be good with that.
I really hope we play, but the league office does not seem to have been especially proactive thus far in scheduling make-up games. I imagine Michigan hopes we play as well.

Great recall GG...........If I remember correctly BP3 also had the record for most points in an Illini debut before Adam broke it this year.......If Adam progresses like BP3 I will be an Illini HAPPY CAMPER.............Similar to how BP3 started his career at Illinois. You are correct. Two things we need to really clean-up. FT's we are a C- as a team. Turnovers, we are a C- or D as a team. (Wisc averages 9 TO's a game).

Trust me the big ten will not award Michigan the title if they don’t at least play 12 games. No way that can be justified at the national level.

I'm not saying which is more fair. But there's no dominant position here.
I'd certainly grant an 11-3 team the championship over an 8-1 team without feeling I was unfair.
I'd probably prefer that this year's champ be given based on the tourney
Je was bad, BU Gabe him the chance to make corrections, but he tried to hard. Thank goodness we have the depth this year to sit him the rest of game and pedal down.
He will be better, something tells me the kid wants to be coached.
AM played hard, gave energy, and D I thought. Could tell they were running some action to get him shooting some 3s and trying to get him going. Yes, some bad turnovers, but you will have that with freshmen.
With the possible exception of Nebraska, my guess is that every team will play at least fifteen games. If I am right on that score, I suspect the remaining issues will mostly take care of themselves, although I don't like the thought of a 13-2 Michigan and a 17-3 Illinois. Or maybe I do, since 17-3 implies we beat Michigan in the head-to-head.

Couple things that stood out:
- Miller made several cuts or got open for a 3 and the pass wasn't there -- one by Ayo when he was running up the court right next to him. He does a good job getting open. Hopefully we can improve the recognition a bit and reward him for his effort.
- Curbelo obviously has work to do on his decision-making driving into traffic and outside shooting, but one area that seems critical and should be his primary offseason task is his finishing on drives in traffic. His attempts make you appreciate how easy Ayo makes it look (that dude is so consistent on his layups -- which made the Indy game all the weirder). I have no doubt he'll learn to hone his skills for finishing among the trees, but I'm a tad surprised he isn't better already given the craftiness to his game. No doubt he'll improve though. The tick he's getting this year is going to payoff in a big way next year (if not in a couple weeks).
- Trent, Ayo, and Kofi have all been beasts of late (minus the occasional blip) but I think Grandison is the MVP of the past month. His improvement has been huuuuuuge to this team's prospects and he plays like a more experienced and confident (and smaller, of course) Coleman. Energy. Shooting. A knack for the ball. He has raised this team's ceiling and it's consistency.
This is all an academic discussion because they’re going to lose @WI, @OSU, Iowa and probably two of @IU, RU and MSU

scUM is more likely to lose at home to Iowa than to either RU or MSU. IU has lost at home to Texas, Northwestern, Purdue, and us, as well as losing to PSU in overtime so I don't see that as a probable loss for them.

I have nothing to add. That was just such a great game. Ayo is legit first team all American. Kofi might be too. Play like this and we’re as good as anyone in the country.
Grandson is the fifth starter on this team, him being mvp is ridiculous.
