Just think what Kofi would be averaging if he played against those 3 critter schools early in the year. Guarantee he would've had at least 30 a couple times.

Great win. Not thrilled we have to see these guys again because they know how to play us tough, but so glad we ended that mini “Maryland curse.” Kofi was on another planet.
Things went pretty well for Maryland this game. They might eventually get hungry for the next one, but only until tipoff.

Hey Coach...can I watch practice the next 3 days while you give Kofi the weekend off and practice the rest of the guys for 8 hours a day? Gotta find somebody to score when Kofi is on vacation....cause it is going to be every team's No. 1 objective to get him in foul trouble. He really does not have to be a rim protector because there are few teams...if any...who can match baskets with the Illini when he is on the floor. Just don't foul!!

Only two complaints tonight are with how we managed the run by Maryland in the first half (besides the awful refereeing).

1) Kofi and Payne both got two fouls, and we are dominating the paint. Payne is not going to play much in the second half unless Kofi gets 4 fouls... why not play Payne with two and discourage Maryland from getting inside? Maryland controlled the paint after Kofi got 2 fouls, and it started when Hawkins was playing center instead of Payne.

2) Why is Underwood so keen on keeping his "use it or lose it" timeout until the last minute of the half? Last game he used it with about 20 seconds to go, and we give up a bucket after Minnesota draws up a play. Today, we should have called that time out when it was clear Maryland had taken over the momentum in the game and our lead shrunk to 7-8. We ended up not using it until we were down. I'd much rather use the timeout to try to stop a big momentum swing that goes on for 7-8 minutes than use it at the end of the half.

How they played without Kofi in the 1st half should give BU a chance to make sure they don't get full of themselves and start reading how great they are. You know BU will harp on that in practice.
