It he picks up the third, he can't play 1/2 as aggressively, as he did in the 2nd half. It he's juggling fouls, you're not getting 23 and 18 tonight. That's why, unless you're on the cusp of getting blown out...you sit patient until the 2nd half, when you have all of your bullets in the holster.
Agreed. I also would have been fine with Payne starting the second half, because you know that their plan revolved around going right at Kofi out of halftime.

My only real issue was sitting Omar, too. Sure, the team got a lesson, but Payne could have gotten real minutes. Whatever.

It's really not impossible. If NIL works and the NBA still doesn't value him. I dunno. Probably just a dream. Still a shame that this isn't 1991, in terms of what the NBA wants.
There is also some revenue available now as a college player. Is that enough for him to stay? I doubt it. But what if??? Or the Bulls draft him in the second round a la Ayo.

I get it - really just want to see some stats on this but haven't been able to find anything. Arguments from both sides makes sense logically

Nobody’s calling these guys soft now. DMFW was the guy that kept us in the game with his defense when were a little shaky. Trent was superb running the offense. Kofi was a beast. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a player take the kind of abuse he does play after play and never lose his cool. They were just begging for him to respond and he played right thru it mostly with a smile on his face.

Enjoy a few days off boys. You deserve it!

Agree to disagree. If he picks up a third fine sit him but analytics say play him. It turned out fine today but the dynamics of the game completely changed
Dismal shooting in that part of the game had something to do with that change in dynamics.
I think if we were playing a better team Kofi might have been put in for a least a few minutes.

Agree to disagree. If he picks up a third fine sit him but analytics say play him. It turned out fine today but the dynamics of the game completely changed when he sat the last 10 plus minutes of the first half. Put some trust in him. Kofi is one of the best bigs I’ve seen stay out of foul trouble. He played smart the whole second half.

Ok...by all means double down on this. Analytics are fine...but there's no way Kofi can play a full 20 minute second half as aggressively as he did in your scenario. You absolutely have to guarantee you have Kofi down the stretch in these games. You cannot take the chance...analytics be damned...that a couple of human factors....referees or silly fouls.....eliminate that chance.

There will be a game...probably vs. Purdue....where this could play out very differently. If we don't have Kofi for 20 minutes in the second half vs. Purdue....we aren't going to win.

Am I missing something here dub ?

Kofi looks like prime Patrick Ewing out there. The fact he’s not only swallowing up every rebound and explosively dunking on everyone, but he’s passing so well out of the post and has become a credible free throw shooter has blown the lid off his ceiling as a player.

We should be the highest ranked 3 loss team and I will fight anyone who disagrees.
Relax! Lol. Put the Kool Aid down for just a second. I love Kofi ad much as everyone else, but unless he starts hitting turnaround 15 footers and spot up 18 footers on the regular...let's pump the breaks on comparing him to one of the top 50 players in NBA history. Ok...Resume drinking.
