Illinois 76, Nebraska 50 Postgame

It happens. He always does something game-changing, and it feels like he's out there all the time. I felt that way about RJ last night. I was surprised when I saw he had fewer minutes than Epps.
I honestly remember having the thought that Sencire looked like Trent 2.0 in pestering Buie and it looked like SH was getting into his head a bit. And then the fouls came...

I have been thinking all along on the D side that Harris is a longer Trent. Long way to go to reach his offensive skillset but he has 3 more years to get there.
Yes, Harris is phenomenal because he's able to get those types of steals that potentially leads to easy baskets. I type potentially because he cannot finish those, "easy baskets," and I hope to add a "yet" to the end of that sentence soon.

Some people have to complain about someone every game.
I know for a fact that this is the first time I have ever complained about a player on this board. And after posting, I must admit, I regretted it a bit. However, once out there I couldn't take it back. So, for further explanation: I think his antics on the bench during the NW game set me off a little and as a result I watch him more closely now. It appears to me that he doesn't give maximum effort all the time. When he's engaged he's a wonderful addition to the team, however, I think that lack of consistent intensity is detrimental to the culture BU so vigorously tries to establish in his teams. I'm sure you've seen that too.

Man, I wish they had included Rodgers' put-back. Even though it was in garbage time, it was a definite highlight for me.
Ty, Coleman, Dain, RJ, and Coach Frazier sticking around and signing autographs for the kids afterwards was a highlight for me.
That and Coleman taking his guy off the dribble and throwing down a one hand jam from outside the lane was pretty top notch too.

Not true-2 or 3 times a game he tries to throw a pass through two or three defenders as as if he can only see his teammate and not the defenders.
But, he is playing much better now and making better decisions. He is going to just get better as the season progresses!
Yeah, two of those times resulted in un-needed fouls by Dain and MM as they went through their defenders in attempts to get to passes from CoHawk.

I must have watched a different game. Harris is a great defender but Rodgers effectively shutdown Griesel.
You’re right, Sencire only guarded him a couple of possessions. TSJ mostly but Ty was best defender. 😔

I think he has kind of a “lazy look” to him that makes it seem like he’s not giving his all. That and his occasional forays into iso-ball seem to rub people the wrong way.

I remember after I believe the Missouri game a poster saying that Mayer wouldn’t pass to Shannon (might have been something he saw on Twitter). Maybe that game he didn’t and has since turned over a new leaf, but I made effort to watch him the next game and he made plenty of passes to Shannon. Again, he started so slow and hasn’t always lived up to expectations, so I think that has shaded people’s opinions of Mayer’s play.

Pretty much this. Given the sample size is plenty large now, this is telling:

When CH is aggressive we are hard to beat. It opens so much, and keeps teams from sagging in to take away the drives from TSJ.

Huge Kudos to BU. I was disappointed in the direction the team was headed and he has found a way to get these guys back on the same page. No easy task.

Yes, he’s missed more than a couple dunks this year. Previous poster said Harris was fouled on the missed dunk against Neb — and he probably was — but still should have made it. As he was streaking down court, I was yelling layup, layup. And in that split second I knew he was going for slam, I was prepared for the miss.

Are you saying that if he went for the layup instead he wouldn't have been fouled? If so, I agree. It seems he slowed up to gather himself for a vertical jump that is just barely within his capabilities. I do not agree if you think he should have made the dunk while being fouled like that.

I think it was Clark not passing to Mayer in the Missouri game following a pregame scuffle

Really Interesting to see.

The DBPR numbers definitely don't track with the eye test for me between Mayer and Shannon. I think Shannon looks great on D and Mayer looks mediocre at best. It definitely tracks for Harris!

Pretty surprised Dainja's OBPR is so low.

As a general rule, I stay off game threads. There were plenty of "ugh!" moments, but I loved how we moved the ball. Keep it up and we'll win lots of games. Two more things: Epps is a stone cold killer and Rogers was excellent.

Forgot to mention Dainja. Quiet offensively, but totally neutralized Nebraska's lead big.

What pregame scuffle?
Something like this from what had been rumored. Mayer sent a 5 finger pass skyy's way. I am repeating what I have read on here.

What pregame scuffle?
reported by multiple sources - there was an event that transpired in the pregame between Mayer & Clark. I didn't witness the event but heard or rumored it was a swing/punch or the like from Mayer to Clark.

even in the blow out loss - look at the last 10 minutes of the game and the 6 man rotation.
