Rule 7, Section 6, Article 5 (Page 75/140) states:

That is your simple yet important rule: The thrower merely needs to release the ball before the five seconds expires.

(The exception for Rule 7-4.6.b about the pass going directly into the playing court refers to a seldom-made pass after a successful basket or goaltending violation, where the inbounding team may pass the ball between players who are out of bounds at the end line under the basket. The ball ultimately must be passed into the playing court before five seconds expires.)

Seldom-made yet certainly relevant here.

Egwu averaged an incredibly pedestrian 6.5 pts and 4.6 rebounds per game throughout his career.

I'm not sure why we still talk about him. Those numbers are awful.
Kind of my thoughts about him. He was good on defense, but I still have nightmares of him jacking up 3s and would be surprised if he ever shot over 50% overall for a year.

I agree the original poster is just simply wrong. AM is a freshman with multiple upperclassmen I. Front of him that are better offensive options for this year. I have been Impressed with both his D and boarding. He is playing his role for this team. I like seeing him split time with DMW as they are one defensive and the other 3 point shooter. He is a freshman on a very good team.
Spot on. This isn't the last year of O&B basketball. AM is a high talent and while his offensive production is underwhelming this year, we should all be thankful (and encouraged) that he is getting serious tick to shore up his game.

It is going to be a shock to go from the defense of Trent+Ayo+DMFW to Belo+AM+Grandison. What else can you do but try to improve this year?

By the way, I like AM's hair. He may be uncomfortable in his role on offense, but he is still far from a wallflower. That's a good thing, considering how soon he's likely to be looked to for leadership.

As much as I dislike Iowa Basketball, the University of Iowa has an elite writing program.
Wow that is something to be proud of. Lets see what is better and elite engineering program or an elite writing program. Elite writing program I put up there with an elite cow milking program.

Actually impressed with Belo and Ace’s defense. Belo fouls too much but love his tenacity and quickness. Ace just looks solid to me. Maybe not all defensive team but not a Hawkeye either. Both really good players and can’t name other frosh in Big at their positions that I would trade.

I noticed it at times during the game whenever the camera showed him on the sideline. Lately, he doesn't seem to be the happy-go-lucky person he usually does. His game also seems off when he gets on the court.

These are his stats for the last 3 years. It has to be very tough on him. Plus the isolation and separation from his family.

Don't know if this has been posted here yet but the BU ending pumps me up so so much!! WE COMIN!!

Giorgi looks good in the locker room. I wonder if Belo knows he is feeling down so he made sure to make him part of the celebration right away. Watching the celebration in the locker room though I think Giorgi looks happy. He isn't the dancing crazy dude we are used to but as someone said before that really could have something to do with the fact he hasn't seen his family or been able to interact with people for almost a year. I feel like a guy like him needs those interactions, he is just so outgoing.

Fran in the first minute of his presser couldn't have gotten any more salty if he tried. What a clown.

Wanna know why Garza only shot one FT, Fran? Because you had him out setting picks 26 feet from the hoop. You aren't getting to the line that way.
Actually, that IS a smart observation by you.

Iowa is really good and I am pretty sure if you asked Ayo or any other Illini they would say so also. I really feel we have found something with JG play more minutes. His confidence should be soaring. A double double against a top 5 team. He belongs in big time D1 basketball and is exactly what this team needs if we can’t have the tOSU guy from Belleville.

I know they do. Their Creative Writing program is top in the country.

Which is why I still find it laughable that a dude who bragged about going to Iowa messed up something as simple as the difference between "toe" and "tow."

My comment was more re: the Twitter poster being a total tool for that and for complaining about the refs, not a condemnation of the program itself.

Didn't BU make a point of saying Giorgi hasn't seen his family in over a year and 1/2? He may be feeling it a bit.

Egwu had an elite motor, that's about it. I've never seen someone work so hard at setting screens.

Ah yes our elementary easy to defend offense that is top 10 in offensive efficiency according to most advanced measures....it only looks maddening because you don't know what to look for.
Penn St. is just nine spots behind us on offense efficiency with a losing record. So obviously that isn’t everything. Since, I don’t know what to look for, maybe you can let me know. What I see on the stat sheet is zero points. I don’t think it is out of line to want to see just a little more from A. Miller being that he was a high recruit, and Mr. Basketball in the state of Illinois. I think many on this board had and do have high expectations for him and want him to succeed. But there was a lot of talk about him possibly being one and done or gone after two. After his first game, I was excited to see what he was going to do. Granted it was against a terrible team but he looked confident; he looked great. Now, I don’t expect that kind of play come conference and other big games. But I was hopeful. I am waiting for that break out Perfomance (again). As far as what they do in practice. I have no idea. However I doubt they are telling him to not find his shot. In the games we have lost he is 7/33 in FG’s and 6/23 on 3’s for a total of 13/56 combined. When I have watched him lately it seems he is sitting in the corner waiting to hit a three. Which sometimes he has good games and then he doesn’t. I would think he could penetrate more than relying on the 3 as much as he does. That’s my observation. If he gets more balanced I think we can go deep into the tournament. Of course he does other things on the floor, but we need him to be more consistent. Zero point games should be rare being a starter in the big ten. He has had three in conference play.
With a combo of Miller/Williams/Frazier giving us a solid 25/30 points a game and Ayo and Kofi doing there thing this team can get to the elite eight, maybe further if they can get better at shooting free throws.

Honestly, I am fine with people disagreeing with my opinions, we’re all supposed to be on the same side. But if you just want to hurl insults don’t waste your time replying. I want everyone in this program to succeed and I want the team to do well. I have my observations and my perspective, if you want to offer a good rebuttal than lay it out. It’s cool with me.

We’re #7 in the nation in offensive efficiency. So offense typically isn’t our problem. Our problem is typically maintaining a high level of energy throughout an entire game.

The reason why PSU is only 9 spots below us in offensive efficiency, yet has a losing record, is because they have a poor defense.

Their defensive efficiency is ranked 79 (compared to ours at 18).
