Once healthy what will Ty’s role be? Who will he take minutes from?
Ty will play a decent amount, when he's back and if we are in a top 10 type position I think he'll want to come back rather than sit another year. His role will be lock down defender and offensive rebounder - he'll get minutes at the SF when Andrej isn't in there, I think Jake Davis becomes the 10th man then and he'll get minutes at the SG when Wagler isn't in there.

The biggest thing is he'll provide more veteran leadership and depth so we don't have to have Kylan and Wagler play 36+ minutes a game which will wear them down. He would also provide some flexibility for us depending on matchups - he would have been perfect for guarding Watts last night for example - we really didn't have a good answer for him

When we get everybody back healthy, excluding Ty, how do you find playing time for all the stud athletes so that nobody gets butt hurt? I know it’s a good problem, but will it be a problem?

There have been a couple, maybe three, references to this, but it looks as if Crocker may be the much-needed addition to the staff. If he was responsible for the defense and adjustments, especially the one that put KB on Toppin, then I think he has already earned his year’s salary.
Believe they did a similar thing with KB on Wolf in Mich game last year so not sure Crocker gets credit.

Best case for Ty is mid January … That’s best case scenario …

Even then, very limited minutes if any minutes as roles will be set …
There's no bigger Ty fan on this board than me -- don't care what he doesn't bring as a shooter because to me he's a net positive for everything else he does elite, just the definition of a winning player especially when you surround him with guys like on the 2023 team or this year's team

I thought it was interesting how fast Andrej brought up Ty in the press conference yesterday w Kylan when reasons he came. that was cool.

Was just wondering to claify the rules, does Ty have to play this year and next to be done, or would it make any sense to have him play next year as a junior and the following year as a senior in whatever role as I'll assume Brad will keep bringing in/back kids who are more talented than Ty. In short, can he redshirt again this year and have two years left, or does he have to play this year because he only has one left after?

...and so we lose Ty at the end of the season for good, right?

we were up 5, then the flagrant, then we didn't cover. many had 4.5 spread.

Handlogten just came back in February last year for Florida.

I think there are a lot of potential matchups in the tournament where having Ty as a perimeter defender and rebounder as your 8th man would be a huge upgrade over Humrichous/Davis.

Michigan on Feb 27th with their frontcourt would also be a nice game to have him for but you definitely want Ty if you run into a Boozer, Dybantsa, or even Haugh type player in March.

I picture Ty as an option off the bench in March to defend the post and rebound, in situations where the Ivisic brothers are either in foul trouble or can't keep up defensively with a front court.

Not sure there will be that many front courts in basketball where this will be the case, though, especially if they can defend without fouling like they have been thus far.

B10 conference
Many officials work multiple conferences. While the Big 10 assignor might have actually handled the assigning, it would not surprise me if the officials work for the Big 10 and Big 12.

it was less severe than a typical flagrant one foul. it caused a bunch of fans to lose a lot of money. a lot of 4.5 point spread $.
's. at the time of the call we were up 5. seemed to stink.

Eventually it will be like the intentional walk in baseball. Just have to tell the ref you want to foul the guy. 🙄
The weird thing is coaches/players almost always tell the refs they are going to foul to either:
1) stop the clock because they are losing, or
2) foul when they have fouls to give to milk the clock when they are winning (like last night)

There is a certain amount of sportsmanship involved in this so no-one misinterprets what is going on.

For the refs to call flagrant in that instance is almost incomprehensible.

When you start slapping at the ball is when someone possibley/accidentally gets slapped in the face/head.

The officials completely blew a nuance of the game that they should understand at that level and that situation in the game.

I agree with the posts about an opportunity to learn, but come on refs - be better.

In the MSN top 100. Stoj was #10 and Bos #11 guards in BIG and Tomi #2 center.

Neb’s Mast wasn’t on center list and Bittle was #1 so I personally think the are looking at stats more than team contribution. Stats for our guys are not likely to be that impressive because we probably have eight guys who could be the leading scorer in any individual game.
After last night performance the only defensive position that I would worry about is Mirk and not because he is bad but there are some really good players at his position ala K-Renn, Lendeborg, Martinelli. Depth is also going to help our defense because there won’t be much drop off with Z, Ben and Petro.

BU radio postgame:

Knew what was coming in the second half.
Credit to Kylan, who can defend 1-5.
Kudos to Keaton & Andrej.
Z is playing great, but challenged when TT went small.
We’re a good ‘switching’ team on D.
Kylan is going to get fouled A LOT this year (Drej, too).
On to the next challenge.
i appreciated the help defense that we played. got a lot of steals following the screen/screener.
something new in our set.
