I desperately hope Damonte comes back next year. Not because he’d be a great asset (he would), but because I can’t remember the last player I wanted to see get a proper send off on senior night more than Damonte.
He was an explosive athlete until he blew out his knee as a HS Sr. He reinvented himself as a gritty, IQ, do-the-little things guy. Now he’s THE glue, and putting threes and rebounds in the box score to boot. We’ve had better players, but not many better journeys.
