Very good teams have one thing in common: The Killer Instinct. This team has the players. They need to focus entirely on developing that killer instinct. If they cannot find that ingredient I am afraid they will never find their ceiling; the second season will end with a thud. Never take the foot off the gas.
Great defensive intensity in the first half. Outside of Ben and Jake, another dreadful 3-pt shooting performance, though thankfully we got lots of offensive boards off of those misses.
Not overly impressed. They played with some intensity in the first half but not so much in the last 15 minutes. If the Illini hadn't built a big lead, I think the Cats may have beaten us. They played very well in the 2nd half.
Rez was very good today. Thankful for the balanced scoring. Dominated the boards after getting beat up by Maryland.
Going to Nebraska-better be prepared for a battle. Maybe we should try playing a full 40 minutes for a change.
I hope Tomi gets healed up by then. I feel like we are playing with 1 arm ties behind our back without him.

That’s literally my point. I’m not worried about the last 3 minutes bc ultimately it doesn’t say anything about this team for March. !!!! happens. Doesn’t mean they “can’t finish” or whatever.
Sometimes with a 20 point lead with 5 min left a coach should tell the players run a lil clock and go with 15 seconds left instead of jacking up 3s. Winning the game matters more that anything.
Great win and did we need it. Hope Tomi is back Thursday healthy. Go shuck some corn on Thursday.
Much better floor game from Kylan. Better decision making until very late. KJ now 1 for his last 15 from deep. And he is no longer taking the ball to the rim when he gets downhill on his left. No chance that arm is near 100%.
We played the last 5 minutes like we didn't want to see Booth get in the game.
Boswell especially, launching early threes with a double digit lead and a couple minutes remaining. He does some really nice things, but decision making isn't one of his strong suits.

Have some serious mental focus problems outside of maybe 1 or 2 games. Those are now outlier games.

Not just having a good season, challenging for the B1G championship, making the NCAA tournament, or making the second week of the tournament. I think there is a group of significant size here that shares that goal with Coach Underwood. It's a brutal standard to be measured against, and it takes guts for a coach to state that goal the way he has.
As far as the season being over, or -- inanely -- that we wouldn't win another game: no one said anything like that at all. I imagine the sharp anxiety that was expressed after tough-to-take losses to USC, Michigan St and Maryland was in regard to what was looking liked diminishing probability of NCAA tournament greatness this season.

Great game by the Illini today with a much needed victory over the mildcats.................When we rebound well we win.......and we rebounded today with a with a vengeance by a total of 50-27................we also had 5 Illini with double digit scoring , which was much needed with Tomi still out with mono......................
90 % of the posts in this thread so far mention the last 3-4 minutes of the game ending play ahead of the Illini's first 35-37 minutes of excellence.................no mention of our domination on the glass , or holding Barnacle face plant barnizze to 3 points even though he is averaging 18 + ppg......those posts who were derogatory of coach BU got acquainted to...............
and deservedly so..............probably doesn't bother said posters and that's fine by me , but it bothers me when the Illini get a nine point win AFTER some very disappointing losses prior..........JMHO.......
